Oct. 9th. Feierwerk, Munich

After 4 hours of driving (Munich is 280 miles away from my hometown), we arrived spot on, maybe ten minutes before the band started playing. No supporting act.

Nice venue, pretty low stage and you could stand on the front of the stage aswell as on the side of it. If I had known , I would've taken my cam with me... on the entry, no one cared for stuff like that either.

Anyways, it was a very good performance. They played the usual set for this tour in roughly 90 minutes:
Hung Bunny / Roman Dog Bird / The Water Glass / Evil New War God / AMAZON / The Talking Horse / It's Shoved / Lizzy / The Kicking Machine / Billy Fish / Up The Dumper / Electric Flower / At The Stake / Copache / Spread Eagle Beagle / A History Of Bad Men / Ligature / The Bit / Shevil / noise 

Especially the fifteen minute version of Hung Bunny/Roman Dog Bird and Copache were great.

We recorded it with an Edirol R-09HR, but unfortunately, I accidentally set the mic gain to "high" and I didn't notice that mistake until the concert was over, so the recording came out pretty distorted and is not really a nice listen. I'm not planning to upload it anywhere, but if anyone still wants it, let me know, then I'll probably set up a torrent.

Got up at 5am for the train to Gatwick Airport for the EasyJet flight to Munich. It was 16C leaving Brighton, even at 5am; on arriving at Munich at 10am I was horrified to find their weather had just changed and it was 5C. Trying to ignore the temperature (I was dressed in only a flimsy pink nightie and see-through thong) I found, oh, shit! Wrong forum, sorry.

Ahem.

Trying to ignore the temperature (I only brought a t-shirt and Melvins 'Dagger' hoodie) I found my hotel and hung around a dodgy Jugoslavian bar with really cheap beer, a fabulous jukebox, a mad Bosnian behind the bar and some Romanian ne'er-do-wells playing cards.

The clock ticked and, because of scrupulous planning, it was only a 15 minute walk from the bar to the venue. I'm no stranger to Feierwerk - I know a guy who DJs there every Sunday night. In fact I've even done a jingle and introduced an Eastfield song over the air there before, in a William Shatner voice). Unfortunately my DJ friend couldn't meet me tonight as EVERYONE in his band and almost everyone in Munich had a bad cold because their weather changed so dramatically (a 20 degree C. drop overnight).

Thanks for the reviews, that was a nice read.. Jules, will I meet you in Haarlem? I'll be there early. I'm also going to Kortrijk or Koln, haven't decided yet. Both are like an 2,5 hour ride, maybe anyone of has good or bad experiences with these venues?
