So, I met SL, Michael Jordan and Oldernie in The World's End before the gig. Justin from Oslo was there, too (he's following Geoff Berner around on tour much like me and Melvins). Faust, where were you?

Doors opened around 7pm. The Electric Ballroom is like the perfect London venue - every time I've been, the sound has been great, and it's in Camden for chrissakes, where everything happens. The first thing to be noticed was the single drum kit on the stage. That was exciting in itself. I hadn't seen them with this line-up minus Coady before.

The set was exactly the same, but Dale was drumming for two this time. It was loud as fuck and the perfect sound, and the crowd really gave it what-for. London crowds are awsome, sometimes. During The Bit I didn't see one person who wasn't moving.

Funniest people of the evening: the two bouncers at the front. Arms like tree trunks. Ears like peanuts. They were like cartoons of themselves. You could smell the steroids. Bloody friendly, though. In fact, the Electric Ballroom bouncers are pretty cool all round.

Most disappointed person of the evening: Oldernie. Melvins have 14 Orange Sets left but they're taking them all home with them. My advice is to watch Ms. Pepperpants like a hawk, see what happens.

Second most disappointed person of the evening: Michael Jordan. This was to be the first time in his life he'd see Melvins with two drummers. D'oh!

This could have been Melvins with Kevin Rutmanis; that was the last time I'd seen them kick this much ass. Ten out of ten again.

There was a lad in Sweden who spat beer everywhere when he saw it, but I forget I have it until someone asks, to tell you the truth. I didn't see any others, either. I was surprised.

Next time it should be a threepiece with Coady leaving Dale free to record that new Shrinebuilder album im getting far too impatient for.
