Isn't he a huge fan of Simpsons? Would be hard to watch that show without TV, specially in the 90's before streaming videos existed or the DVD boxsets.

Buzz quotes that in the WMPG interview (INTERVIEW!) back in '99.

King sized Homer is a personal favorite. 

Brain center at whiples is the name of a twilight zone episode but I guess he could have seen that in the 80's.
