I really could not be anymore pleased with this album. Of course, like most Melvins records, it'll take a while to settle in but HOTDAMN what a great first listen. I'm gearing up for bed and getting ready for round two right now.

It's jazzy and weird but not what I had in mind for the album as a whole. Lots of twists and curveballs - just how I like it.  Trevor on stand-up is just brilliant. The scratchy string play on top of the heaviness of the Buzzo riffs is just spectacular.  Dale's got that Buddy Rich groove going on at times, too. It's weird to hear him play so soft and fast, but dammit it works so well with everything else that's going on.

Other than the production sound, I'm not really hearing the HAT and HONKY elements that everyone else seems to be referring to. It's brand new, and stands tall as its very own thing. OH. And I absolutely adore the Paul McCartney cover. Bravo, Melvins. Can't wait to make history with these guys and see them perform these songs live.

I'm so glad I waited to take it in properly. Things of greatness should not be rushed.
After all, anything worth doing, is worth doing right.

This is probably going to end up being one of my all time favorite Melvins covers next to "Goin' Blind" Such a prefect choice.  So pumped I just ordered my tickets to see them!!! I bought them right at midnight... ((I think Im still a little paranoid after the Amp Rep picture disc frenzy!!!))
Los ticka toe rest

Yes sir! A landmark piece of work that they can be proud of. No other band keeps
bringing fresh idea after fresh idea so far into their career the way Melvins do!

=D> Hopefully there will be more Melvins lite recordings.
I hope so too. Only thing is i think they will need to get them out sooner than later otherwise i can imagine it all just resting on the backburner so to speak and being discarded.

Yeah i really like that one too. When it didn't appear on Bride i thought it never would but it's so nice to see them find a home for it. I hope they eventually record 'Mr DNA' after they covered it a few years back. That was a cool cover.

"Let Me Roll it" might be the closest-sounding cover song they've done yet!

I haven't received this message yet but I fully expect to. Every new U.S. release I've ordered from amazon.co.uk has been delayed, I suspect it's policy to inform the buyer after the release date otherwise they'd go elsewhere. I can wait a few more days. Adds to the suspense.

Forget friggin amazon.co.uk or .com......Piccadilly Records in Manchester have it in and they ship fast.....

Probably true but it'll cost a little more than Amazon once you include postage.

Maybe so but at least you'll get it quick smart and be buying from an independant.

My 2 cents (not by Kent Brockman)...
Most impressive!  I wish inner eat rupture was longer.  A lot of the songs remind me of T-Rex.  I don't know much T-Rex but some of the songs have a T-Rex feel.  Sounds like a a lot of Dale on vocals which is a plus.  His drums sound amazing by the way!  This seems like a perfect album for any Melvins fan regardless of what 'era' one might favor.
Great Mccartney cover though i prefer it live.

Great Record as John Lennon from the Beatles might say.  :)

is anyone planning on acknowledging the return of the gong on HOLY BARBARIANS?

or did that already happen and I missed it?

Holy Barbarians is easily one of the best songs on the album.  Is that Dale singing on it?  anyways, i love the LOUD bass on that track
