Trevor Dunn is like Mary Poppins, he comes in, makes things awesome and then moves on to the next thing when his work is done. Some of you guys sound like the children that wished Mary didn't have to leave and wished they could have her forever! lol  Trevor recorded Freak Puke, toured with the band and help them beat a world record, and then will be off to his next stop... a tour supporting an amazing new album by the band Tomahawk!!!!
Haha, this. Although I wouldn't have been quite so dickish about it. I know, sometimes I surprise even myself!

To be honest I don't think Tomahawk really comes into it, that band is very much a part-time band these days for everyone involved.

However if Fantomas were to kick back into gear or Mr Bungle got back together...

Hot Pants

arent Fantomas supposed to be doing something this year?

Bungle... wishful thinking. god id love to see them again. that was a hell of a last tour.

Hard to say, it's only at the rumours level and Dale said it was unlikely anyway since he hadn't heard anything about it.

(the) Razor

I'm sure I saw Patton talking about it. He'd done a lot of work on it or something but other projects took priority or something. I probably made that last part up.

Oh okay.

On Fantomas I personally think they're pretty much dead. As painful as the thought is. It's been 7 years since their last album and 9 years since they last recorded anything (DC & SA were recorded together in mid-'03).

I remember Patton saying about 4-5 years ago (pre-FNM reformation) he wanted the next album to be totally electronic and put a pic of the keytar type thing Buzz was going to play on the album and said Lombardo would be using one of those electronic drum pad set ups. Meh.

Patton's main focus these days seems to be voicing video games & making soundtracks with little dabs of FNM, Mondo Cane, Moonchild & eventually the new Tomahawk album, now pushed back to January 2013.

Trevor Dunn is the best bass player Melvins ever had

The guy was like a one-man show inside a Melvins show.

Melvins Lite - Intro - Montreal

After hearing them live, you will like the Freak Puke album

Trevor

well, hes pretty much known Buzzo since the mid 90s, they worked on Fantomas years ago, I think it was a good experiance for both Buzz and Tevor, and Im very happy they kept in touch and worked on more things together. Im happy they haved looked out for eachother in some ways in the state of the music industry..Trev must be one fucking awesome cat to be involved playin with the melvins...I mean, thats the first thing that comes to mind.

I think Trev Is probly a hoot to play with, Im sure hes smart and also very funny and would be pretty cool to tour around with.

Im glad it turned into something like melvins lite.

trevor Really must be a long time melvins fan too, Im sure they go back, wayyy back..good things have bloomed from the friendship.

Didnt Melvins open for Mr. bungle..I seem to remember the Trey spruance interview and was talking about how The melvins were basically booed off the stage opening for them, and so (being melvins fans) mr.b tuned their guitars down three quarters of an octave and played a full set of just one note...in tribute to the melvins..

that is magical!

I think Im just very proud for them all, I just have ONE last question,...

how are they gonna do laundry touring 50 states in 51 days...playing every night... :o

:(

I remember hearing about the electronic album, and didn't feel too excited about it.

Patton's film works have been interesting, but most of his other stuff has been really hit or miss for me lately. (I'm talking newer material here)
Fantomas doesn't neeeeed him-or Dave, really. But imagine Buzz & Trevor with Dale and Lombardo dueling again but this time it will be the most massive drum kit you have ever seen. Four gongs - at least. They can do a reverse LITE and call it HEAVY.

I think I just predicted the end of the world.

2012 is Year of Melvins.

I agree, I think the last thing he put out of any real quality was the Crank: High Voltage soundtrack which if you haven't heard it sounded pretty Fantomas-ishy. But yeah that was a good 3 years ago. For me it's surprisingly really as I would've thought with the whole FNM reunion cash grab/sporadic touring thing the influx of funds might've lead to him putting more stuff out than previously as he wouldn't 'need' to tour for them.

I remember reading in an interview with him (again pre-FNM reunion) that he was basically sick of touring and in future would be looking to scale that side of things right down. Another reason why I don't hold out much hope for another Fantomas album or Bungle reunion.

Hot Pants

hmm. maybe i was thinking about the Tomahawk announcement and wishfully thinking that i had heard Fantomas were up to something again.

feh!

He mentioned doing two albums! One all electronic, the other all acoustic. I would be really interested in hearing both but the potential for disaster there seems high.
