Metallica wasn't right at all.  Illegal downloading just got far more rampant and Lars looked like a fucking fool in the process.  My favorite records were all made on a shoestring budget, I personally don't care if the majors take a nosedive into complete musical obscurity. They don't view music as anything other than another product, another division.

Nice interview so far man. I am looking forward to the rest!

Indie labels need money to keep going too. They don't run on love and integrity.

Part 2 will be posted Sunday, with part 3 going for next week.  Check out the youtube channel, plenty of other interviews and original content there.  The Matt Pike and and Mike Scheidt interviews are especially good

Agreed. What some dont realize is that art in whatever form or medium is a business too. Without business and distribution you would have to literally scour the ends of the earth to find the music you want. Metallica was right but does it matter at all?

In the age of the internet, I find it hard to believe that you'd need to scour the earth to find any sort of music.

Who's gonna underwrite or give you an advance that would enable you record a quality album for you to upload on the internet in the hopes of getting a return and profit?

More money doesn't equal a quality album.  Exposure is the key to success; if you're talented and/or popular, the money/opportunities will follow.

More money does equal a quality album in the way it is recorded and the instruments used to make it. I'm not talking about strictly talent.
