What exactly is New Wave of British Heavy Metal falsetto? Can someone please name the bands the author is refering to?

It's a good song to be sure.

Here's where IMO it would rank:

1) Dr. Mule
2) Pig Skin/Starve Already
3) Smash the State
4) Paraquat
5) Thank you/ Saved Message
6) Shit Sandwich

"No Sir, I don't like it"

Is this a piss take? The guitar and vocals sound terrible.

False.

what part of the guitars don't you like? And what don't you like about the vocals? Just curious.

I recently watched that russian interview video, I don't understand why is nobody talking about the last part where Buzz says that apparently they're going to compile all those smaller limited edition releases in a Melvins 1983 album.

Here it is, around 10:50-->

The song sounds so half-assed. Buzz's whaling doesn't sound good and like someone else said I'm too sick of the tone of that guitar. Sounds like the band are being recorded in one room and Buzz is outside playing it like there is some sort of filter on it. It's got no guts and sounds too tinny.

Dumpster D

pretty sure they did it just to piss you off.  :buzz:

as they say; Flattery will get you nowhere.

and Its WAILING, not Whaling, ok there moby dick.

stop for a cotton pickin minute and imagine what its like when people critisize you no matter what you do, pretty soon you go out of your way to acheive satisfaction from negative Criticism if its all you ever get.

Im sure that is chapter one in your melvinology 101 textbook.

Wait, I'm not allowed to dislike the song?

Dumpster D

Am I not allowed to Dislike your oppinion.  :?

What I meant is; part of the core nature of The band is to annoy people with sound.

I think in that sense, its doing a fine job in your case.

thats all I was saying.

i really like the track, vocals and all - although i agree that the guitar sound could do with some "fat".

having also just listened to "in every dream home..." the thought came up that buzz is doing a jello impersonation on the mule vocals. right?

I would guess that the reason that the different Melvins lineups have happened is because it lets them record different styles ( I know, almost any new Melvins record is a different style ). It also helps to keep the $ from record sales going to the right people who have played in that lineup. And, it's the Melvins. Do it differently. And who can complain about 3 different Melvins lineups?  People might have their favorites, and some might not care for a certain lineup at all, but it's 3 different variations of a loved band.

... nothing wrong with having 3 different lineups.

I'm thinking you guys might have misunderstood my gist. I have absolutely zero problem with multiple Melvins line ups tackling multiple different styles and angles ... In fact I think it is a stellar development; and in fact is an idea I proposed on this very board before they themselves (Melvins) even started doing it ... I can dig up the post if need be but too lazy right now ... No, I just don't see the point in actually naming them all something different ... seems contrary to the Melvins heritage of fucking with peoples heads ... of being a somewhat cryptic and closed book ... an inside joke as it were. Seems to cater more to the neophyte, passer by, and casual listener rather than than wild, warped and indoctrinated ... like say when they dropped COD ... they didn't put a sticker on the front saying "This Is A Noise Album". Nope, it just said Melvins. Like I said, just open the shrikwrap and be surprised ... It's all good ... it's all Melvins.

All great ... people always say those tunes are throw away ... no way! Paraquat, Smash State ep, MOF 2x7, Pig Skin/Starve ... some of their best stuff ... love those tunes and that vibe ... all wirey, chaotic, and barbed ... good stuff!

After a few listens this song is growing on me. I wish some of these cool Melvins "one off" songs would make it to albums. I know you guys love those things but since i don't buy vinyl or singles i sort of (rightly or wrongly) tend to dismiss those kind of releases.
I'm pretty confident that this will be released on CD. Its at least on the scion 10 year comp.

i lost the merch email for scion can someone be kind & post it, TY
