how awesome was that melvins/helmet poster. had the lateralus vibe going on...

the sound seemed more than a bit loud (get off my lawn!) and muddy/messy as fuck to me.
some songs at times were completely undecipherable. i wish i enjoyed it as much as past melvins gigs...sadly i didnt...

i only had 2 beers...this could have been a factor...

Hag Me is a great opener
Your Blessend sounded amazing especially with two drummers
Great to see YOA back in the set as it brings so much energy to the show
The Hung Bunny > Roman Dog Bird closer was incredible.
A shame that Buzz said nothing and gave no acknowledgement to the crowd whatsoever.  First time I've seen that at a Melvins show.
Also a shame that they sold out of the tour 7-inches in Adelaide and that there was no show specific poster for Melbourne.
Anyway, a fantastic show overall and definitely the best of the shows I've seen with the BB guys over the years.

Would be great to see a review of the Hobart show.  Saw Mudhoney play down there a couple of years ago.  Great show in a small venue. Crowd really into it.

From the Meredith Music festival in Victoria:

This year's festival opened on a dreary Friday the 13th which had plenty of wind and rain (but thankfully no chainsaw-wielding psychopaths). The bleak weather was soon forgotten, though, as the bands came out to play. American psychedelic crew Deerhunter were the first big international act to hit the stage. Their ambient first song was rudely interrupted by a "big -ss f-cking poisonous spider" whose on-stage presence caused a comical reaction from lead singer Bradford Cox, but when they got going again the crowd was treated to a delightfully mellow set. All that residual serenity was soon shattered by Melvins, whose thrashing and screaming was not very Meredith-appropriate and proved too much for this reviewer. They sounded much better from the tent ...

I did think they were a weird choice for Meredith, I think The Mark of Cain played there last year too.
