Well, I made it finally, after suffering Air China in-flight 'quisine' and intolerably uncomfortable seating. Eyes raw from looking for kangaroos, I'll be at White House Record store from 11am and then at the bar in the venue from mid-day if you wanna come hang out. Hope to try and catch soundcheck - The Fool will be with me.

There'll be a review as soon as I can find an internet cafe again, probably tomorrow and probably in Canberra.

Toodle pip.

What makes you ask that?

Newcastle is cool. An old steel town, now reborn with coffee shops, bookstores, record stores, art galleries and musicians. Reminded me a bit of Ann Arbor, MI: twee and friendly.

After fighting off mountains of kangaroos (they are EVERYWHERE), spent the afternoon lounging in the sun outside the venue drinking shandies. Said hi to Helmet when they arrived and wandered in to the Melvins soundcheck. I got TWO Youth Of Americas tonight, so lucky  8)

Everyone was lovely; Jared reckons I have too much time on my hands (there's no such thing, imo, but I can see what he means  :D ) and Buzz and I talked about touring, Australia, merch and lots of other things. Coady was bearded and handsome as fuck. Dale was funny.

Two locals set up the merch afterwards; two new shirts - a tour spider shirt ($40), the Australian Tour shirt ($45), the Australian Tour hoodie ($80), some tour-only Melvins/Helmet singles ($30 - all gone now) and a limited edition Tour poster. Helmet had a couple of shirts and an LP, too. Photos later when I've sorted this internet business out.

Met The Fool after soundcheck and we hung out till Helmet came on. The venue was loads smaller than I thought it would be, a few people didn't make it into the gig and stayed in the bar as the $70 entrance fee was too much for them.

Helmet were fucking awesome. I still have Wilma's Rainbow in my head today.

Ditto Melvins. I still have Youth Of America fighting for control with Wilma's Rainbow.

There was a limiter on the PA - Dave Curran really had his work cut out for him tonight.

My bag's heavy with shirts and vinyl. Flew to Canberra this morning. More tonight. Nyam nyam....

$70 entrance fee

would someone please try to make some sense of this for me?

Thats what I was thinking!....

....Also curious about this $80.00 Hoodie (Although I would love to own a Melvins hoodie)

I'd hate to know what Bieber charges for tickets in Oz.

I have some photos but I can't share them yet, don't have the hardware. Official Melvins hoodies are like hens teeth. There are only 30 of this tour design - hopefully the ones they haven't sold by the end of the tour will go up for sale on Revolver.

The only one I have ever seen is the one that you have with the knife...

What is the design on the current one?

The critter with the cigar on the front and the tour dates on the back. There are 30 total in existence, in four sizes! I have photos but no USB so can't upload them til I get home, sorry.  :?

Yes, I'm pretty sure the only other official hoodie was the dagger.

I saw kangaroos last night and spontaneously burst out laughing.
