No, personal reasons. Just kidding!
The CD says the first three I listed are Paul Leary, the other nine songs are Buzz, Dale & Pinkus.

i gotta say, as much as i like the album so far,  there are a few songs on here i just dont get. i think they are the Pinkus songs.

i dont dislike the songs themselves necessarily, but they dont feel like they fit. Nine Yards specifically sounds like some kind of biker rock band. Piss Pisstofferson as well to a somewhat lesser extent.

maybe they'll grow on me... everything else pretty much works for me very well so far.

Anyone else get a defective copy from Amazon? :x Fucking Ipecac must be using a cheaper pressing plant. Never in 15 yrs have I had a fucked CD from Ipecac. Two seconds in and it locks up/freezes, yet the CD looks spotless front and back. No it's not my CD player. Fucking unreal.
So I just had to go on Amazon, print a return label, & will mail it out tomorrow(Saturday). Hopefully Amazon ships my replacement out on Monday, and I get it by Wednesday the latest.

And what's up with the crappy cardboard CD package? They should have stuck with standard jewel case. "This Machine Kills Artists" I would let slide since it's a Buzz solo album, but why not keep Melvins CDs as all others are? The only odd cardboard case in the catalog is "Honky", and at least that's the original digipak style.

my cd was fine luckily. hopefully you just got very unlucky.

agree about the case though. it sucks.

Regarding Pinkus songs, do you like Honky?
That's what they sound like to me. Biker band sounds about right, too.
Not a bad thing. That's how the Doobie Brothers got their start. The good Doobies, before that dumbass singer showed up.

Regarding packaging, I don't love it or hate it.
It's probably too fat to fit in your CD tower from uh, Tower Records, in 1987.
I'm just glad that it's not the type of digipack that I get from Neil Young or the Cult.
With those, you need the jaws of life to get the disc out. It gets scratched the first time.  #-o
This one at least comes with the cool sleeve to put the disc in, before you Slip It In.
I mean Hold It In.   :buzz:

One last nugget. I got both of Le Butcherettes CDs a couple of weeks ago.
The new one is on Ipecac. In a jewel case. So there you go.

I kinda felt the same way at first, those two songs were my least favorite but I love those songs now. Dales snare on Piss Pisstofferson sounds awesome.

Hot Pants

yeah i dont hate the songs, they just dont really feel like Melvins tunes. they do kind of feel like Honky songs actually. so they feel out of place. i dont dislike Honky, but i didnt buy any of there stuff after seeing them open for Melvins last year. both songs have cool parts to them. dont hate them, but not sure i love them either.

the packaging is beautiful. but i hate digipacks as a rule and this one is oversized... 5x worse. just give me a fucking jewel case please. then it fits where its supposed to in any cd shelf in the world and i can replace it for 10 cents if there is any damage.

The Bunk Up is the real deal yo.
the place where i sleep is cold and abandoned

(the) Razor

Melvins have never really had their own sound, Mark D melvins sounds different to BBMelvins who sound different Melvins lite - it's the same with Butthole Melvins, so in that sense it most definitely a Melvins album in its truest sense. The worst thing they could ever do was release Houdini 15 times since the 90s and thankfully Buzzo and Dale did not take that route.

I think if music challenges you, then it is real music and if it doesn't challenge you, it's pop/radio rock.

All the songs do sound of out of place though. I think Melvins haven't released an album that "flowed" since ASA
