I'm pretty sure when Kevin joined they were not wearing them, but maybe a year or two later they started. I'm guessing around 2000. Anybody know for sure?

I saw them in '99, without the mumus. I saw them the next time they came to town (in '01) and they were wearing the mumus. That sounds about right, according to my tireless research. Also, what's the correct spelling of that particular piece of apparel? I'd look it up, but I'm too lazy.

I think it's around 2000, but I'll have to check some pictures to be sure.

I'm thinking the first mumu show was the 1999(2000) New Years Eve San Francisco show, but I'm not positive.

I tend to agree with the others
but
I can remember a memory,
maybe implanted by the government,
that the Melvs wore the mu's maybe a couple of times
during the late 90's
not that it was a standard at the time

Think I remember reading somewhere that the band decided to wear muumuus for a year but it stuck. Maybe it was a joke new year's resolution from nye 1999 which became popular.

GrimReaper

2000 2x4 Tour with DSS. The Camo mu mus didn't last long, probably hot as hell. BHM and Jules are right about the first show. Dared to wear dresses for a year and it stuck.

FU were the first ones? I can't remember.

But I do remember Buzz's lobster shirt was pretty good.

Yeah, there seems to be an open policy for the members to decide what's comfortable for them. I would think that Coady's mechanic's jumpsuit would be too hot, by the end of a set. I saw a guest looking at the topic, from years ago, it was titled MU MU. I don't know how to link it.

Buzz isn't wearing mumus on the solo tour. I think it's spelled muumuu.
Hail, not fail.

Yeah, DSS 2X4 was the first time I saw 'em in 'em ...

I've heard the dare to dress in a dress deal before ... sounds plausible ...

Aside from looking damn bad ass ... I always thought it was to cut down on the frequency and $$$ involved in tour laundry. Just throw all them mumu's in one load ... boom! done! Keepin' them street clothes fresh as a mountain breeze without all that stage sweat in 'em.
