What's up Melvins fanatics!?! don't worry im legit and new and have been a fan since i was 14. so that makes Stoner Witch my first purchase.

but something has been buggin me for years as a fan..... does anyone have any info about the song Instant Larry? where it was recorded, who engineered it, and what year it was brought to tape?

i get the feeling from being such a Melvins fan with lots of info that Mark D. did a lot of the guitar soloing in this song and maybe this is why it has struck me as being such a standout track. somewhat.

it's not my fav Melvins song by no means. just a complete mystery just like other b sides or/and compilation tracks.

When youre a tight band like this sometimes Music and songs Just have to come.

This is one of those tracks I feel was not as much a throwaway as it was used to promote the Tales from the Crypt Demon Knight Film from back in the 90s.

However I dont think I actually Hear Instant larry during the entirety of the whole movie, while it still remains THE greatest song of the demon Knight soundtrack.

I presume it was a good publicity track for the band at the time.

Not sure where the samples came from but Im willing to bet they had recently finished that track from the *in formation* a tribute to throbbing gristle album..

Im sure they had leftover samples and sounds to put somewhere at the same time were itching for something that could put most thrash metal bands to shame simultaneously.

the bloat

Instant Larry was released in 1994, so it was probably recorded during the Stoner Witch sessions. It was probably a left over that wasn't going to fit on Stag. It has that grinding quality of a lesser Buck Owens. Has anyone heard the song Fick Fader which was also a left over cut from the later Atlantic era? It also features a Mark D lead and is rippin' fast! Maybe they recorded Instant Larry and Fick Fader in the same sessions.

I just saw Fick Fader mentioned in the Stag thread.
Is it the missing song that will be included on the Stag Third Man reissue?
