In 1993, Melvins knocked Primus back into the cheesy seas

As a huge fan of both bands I have enjoyed The Melvins live shows a lot more than Primus'.  Last year I had to choose between The Melvins and Primus because both bands were playing live on the same day.  I went with The Melvins without even thinking about it.  Of course it helps that Primus was touring on their worst album and playing a shitty venue I really hate.

That's it, Luck! The endorsement of Antipop as not being the worst Primus album. You can't wiggle out this time.  \:D/
Anyway, I wish I had seen this tour. I didn't go because Primus were totally underwhelming at Lollapalooza that year. I had a shitload of other shows to go to that fall.

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I only considered Antipop to be their worst album until I heard the chocolate factory one.   :-k

Apples & Oranges. It's like comparing Mahavishnu Orchestra opening for Zappa in '73 or something. I thoroughly enjoy both bands, probably Melvins top, and Primus in a close 2nd.

I've never seen Primus and it totally bums me out when I think about it. I have absolutely no idea why I didn't see them in the 90's and then I never wanted to go see them once the hippies and jokes started to follow. I watch a set of theirs from Lollapalooza just recently and it was killer. Ler is one of my favorite guitarists. Damn though. Now they're doing this Charlie and The C&C bullshit. I feel like I really missed out on these guys. Their first three albums were life altering.

I bought Green Naugahyde. It's ok. People / Animals is decent.
I just want Primus to rock out. I consider Les Claypool's solo work to be the destination for these Deadhead  festival offerings. I buy those. I saw Sausage, Holy Mackerel, Frog Brigade live.
Just a different mindset, different feel. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was completely off my radar until I was an adult. I was just the wrong age. My big brother wasn't into it. I have no nostalgic feelings on the subject. I will buy it someday on Amazon for $1. It's probably already in that price range, I haven't checked. My point is, if Ler plays on it, don't fucking waste my time.

Yeah C&C was a pretty big deal for me. I read the book as a kid and then when I saw the movie (the Gene Wilder one) it became a pretty big deal. I've only heard one track off that Primus album and I actually didn't think it was bad but it didn't grab me enough to pursue hearing more. Like you said though. I wanna see Primus rock out like they did in the video I watched. I would love for them to do a Fizzle Fry/Sailing the Seas set.

The last time I saw them was in '03, on the Tour Det Fromage. Due to a family engagement (beyond my control) I missed the first half. It was cool to see them play some of those album tracks, but I would have rather seen Frizzle Fry. Seas Of Cheese is not a good showcase of Ler's guitar, just mimicking Les' bass riffs. You should see them before they're the age where they only play casinos.

(PAUL)

I saw them in '03 as well and was not impressed, by that point they were too jammy (who the hell needs a 20 minute drum solo!?!) and it just felt uninspired.
Hail, not fail.
PS:  fuck him.

Yeah, I have come to terms that I missed the Primus boat. Still stings a bit though.

I was meant to see Primus on their '98 Australian tour they were playing almost a mini-festival type bill with The Tea Party, L7 and The Jesus Lizard with two local bands but the outdoor show got rained out and was cancelled earlier in the morning.

I did get to see them on their 2000 tour supported by Machine Gun Fellatio and as I consider Anti-Pop their best album I was loving it as a mate and I sat right up the back of the theatre for the show with no one around us and just soaked it all in.

I Like primus, Les gets mad at the Audience when they dont listen.

Saw them on their re-union Seas of Cheese tour, glad I did. They came back the next year with SC3 and I missed the show.

he didnt Sign autographs after the show cuz some douche threw a sweatshirt that landed Square on the headstock of Les Bass and he stopped the show for a minute or two before launching into Jerry was a Racecar driver and Finished the set and walked off stage and went straight into the bus and ignored all the fans.

one guy was Saying his brother was in a wheelchair and couldnt make the show, true or not, I personally would have still signed Autographs and brushed elbows with my fans even if they are all idiots or whatever or I was upset, Trust me.

I guess Since Les thinks he has to tell everyone before the show not to snap flash photos or get too rowdy, like anyone at a concert has any sort of respect for anything.

I figure he should know better by then you cant reason with a crowd of Drunk Goofs.

Proud I saw them at least once live. I love Primus and Les is profoundly gifted at writing good lyrics.

They are unique in a lot of aspects as a band so I give it up for them for at least being their own thing.

They were one of my Favourite bands of all time 10 years ago or more (besides you know who)

Saw them on that tour in Salt Lake City, my third rock show ever. Buzz played with his back turned to the audience the whole time, don't remember anything else about them. I was there to see Primus and quite enjoyed them.

Recently I read the "Over the electric grapevine" oral histroy book about Primus, and Buzz is in it quite a bit. He praises their weirdness and musicianship, also  says his favorite song from them is "My name is mud".
