Dale called Howard Stern "dude". That was funny.

Dale was on Stern show? what now?
Here you go, Pants. Don't get your hopes up too high. Is was it is. Or was.

I've been to websites that bash Buzz and the Melvin's for being dicks. On this issue however even they side with the King

Buzz IS kind of a dick though. At least at times anyway. Im only going by the interviews of course because i've never met him but it does appear that way. In some interviews he comes across as quite humble and pleasant, decent. But then in other interviews he seems like a total dick. Too blunt and very egotistical. That's my biggest problem with how he is. I really don't like those moments in interviews where he assumes he's always right and gets a bit big headed. Almost a chip on his shoulder type deal. I get the impression he's quite bitter about some stuff also. I don't like that at all. Dale on the other hand seems far more down to earth, reasonably friendly and unassuming.

I have to agree. I try not to read interviews with Buzz because he always comes across as bitter and negative about everything. Yes, he's overly opinionated but I think there is a show business angle with it too trying to get attention for the Melvins. Always taking shots at people burning bridges and then wondering why no one cares. I like the Melvins music but I wouldn't care to have a conversation with the guy.

What you see as being a dick, I see as confidence, and probably some humor that's lost in translation, but mainly it's well honed confidence.  He's made a career/life by trusting his instincts, not caring what people may think or do, and he's done it, made himself into one of the best ever.

Agreed 110%.
Buttholeman is a power tripping emotional abuser.  He censors my posts and says I need mental health help.  He's a jerk.  Please don't listen to him.  People DO love and respect your opinions.  I'm one of those people.  I love you. PM me if you're stressed.

Buzz is a dick. I'm a dick. Y'all are dicks. We SHOULD get along.

I have met Buzz three times in my life (once in 1990, once in 1995 and hung with him for an hour in 2012) and each and every time he has been nothing but a really nice guy. When I hung out with him I found him to be exactly the same kind of guy he is in audio/video interviews - very funny, witty, sarcastic and opinionated - but not at all like a dick. He tells it like it is, like he sees it. And I am sure in the world of "real Kurt Cobain/Nirvana" versus the world of "public perception/media creation/brand management Kurt Cobain/Nirvana" he must feel like he is beating his head against a wall. Two totally different stories.

When I recorded the Hex album with Earth, I talked to Dylan Carlson a bit about Kurt and Courtney. I won't go into detail because they are stories that are not mine to share (as they are Dylan's) but I can tell you that what Buzz is saying in his editorial is very much along the lines of what Dylan told me. That shit was DARK and gross - nothing at all neat-o or whatever the kids these days think the story is.

Makes me question everything I read or hear about other rock and rollers like Hendrix, Morrison etc.

This is the point I was waiting for someone to make. I think it could be expanded to include any celebrity/ public figure.
Somehow I manage to live my life without constantly hearing about Cobain, or Dave Grohl. It's not difficult, I wouldn't even say I have to try.

I've had the same number of encounters with buzz as you and I must agree. Buzz is very misunderstood and misinterpreted. He could be a comedian if we wanted to, his humor is off the charts. He's always extremely nice and caring when I get the chance to speak with him

How did he get the nickname King Buzzo?

Tupelo records owner Gary gave him that nickname because he said buzz was an opinonated asshole. Buzz liked the nickname. Theres an interview clarifying this but my crappy phone wont let me post it
