Rebel Girl Lathe-Cut 7"
« on: September 10, 2015, 03:37:15 PM »
From Joyful Noise:

We are extremely excited to share the news of our new series: Almost Live from Joyful Noise.

You might be aware of the fact that we have a small performance space at our Indianapolis headquarters. Well, we thought it would be fun to invite some of our favorite bands over to record a limited edition single, tracked live in our empty performance space (hence almost live).

Using our 1940s record lathe, we are cutting records on the spot, and making them available to our VIPs.

Each "Almost Live" release will be limited to just 100 copies on hand-made, lathe-cut 7" records with screen-printed jackets. This will be a semi-regular series, with new releases coming your way every month or two.

The first installment of our "Almost Live" series comes from none other than the Melvins. With the help of Teri from Le Butcherettes, the Melvins stopped by our space recently to record a cover of the Bikini Kill classic "Rebel Girl". Seriously.

Copies will go on sale tomorrow (Friday, September 11) at Noon EST.

Wow, sold out already, thought I was pretty quick on the draw too.

Something was wrong with their process, as the link that appeared when they went on sale didn't work, oh well.

I joined last night and got the confirmation email.  Clicked the link as the timer hit zero and it said my email was invalid....Tried it over and over with the same results.

Ya win some, ya lose some.

Yeah, that timer page was broken.  The link I found by searching for Melvins worked but by then it was too late.

Similar thing happened here.  Timer hit zero, hit the button, and I got sent to a 404 page.  :x

How much were they?
Well, we'll always have "In the Air Tonight." Will that be your most enduring song?
You know, that song won't lie down. It just won't go away. I mean, there's a Mike Tyson moment associated with it now. It's just bizarre. I guess it has a bit of mystery, a lot of atmosphere, and the drums coming in, pinning people to the wall.
