Amazing show. Setlist changed up a bit. A different Redd Kross tune in the mix this time. Each and every member of the band was ON FIRE.

I should have driven from Vegas to Flagstaff. I am a dummy.

Whoa! What a show!

Much longer set than the Imperial Death March tour.

We were on Steven's side this time and it was a very bass heavy mix overall.
Buzz's guitar was pretty low in the mix, so I took out the ear plugs during a few songs and didn't suffer much for it. I noticed Helms Alee had no crunch to their guitar sound also, so it must have been a specific thing with this venue (first show there).

The set list was about 50% the same, but with some really kickass additions.
No spoilers here. (Shout outs to (Paul)).

Helms Alee opened the show strong and the Melvins finished strong.
After a less than stellar line-up in March, this was just what the doctor ordered. 

Second time seeing HA and they sounded much better before, overall, but like I said, I think it was a double whammy of the venue and possibly the headliners sound guy not bringing out their best mix. That said, they kicked ass for 40 minutes and only stopped to let Hozoji catch her breath after drumming and singing lead vocals. I don't understand why she doesn't rock a headset mic like Dale, but she prefers to sing into a Mic to the side with her head completely turned away from her drums. It cost her one time when she dropped a stick and just stopped playing to get a new one. The song didn't stop and the others picked up pretty smoothly, but they all had a chuckle over it.

Maybe put a quiver of extra sticks on the hi-hat stand? 

The important thing was that they had a lot of fans there and the crowd was more into it than not.
Earned some respect and gained some fans. I'm very happy for them and can't wait to get my grubby hands on the new CD next month. Bought a shirt from them.

Melvins merch was a plenty and funds were low, so I bough Euthanasia/ Ambition 7", Prick 12", Maggot letterpress CD, a letterpress CD of A(SA) for my bud, tipped the Walsby and I was out.

I'm going to see the Melvins in Carrboro and was wondering if you could send me a message about some songs in the setlist, meezer. I don't need the whole thing in order, I'm just curious. I'm extremely excited about this show. I should wait to find out but I'm curious.

Got some things to say about Steven's bass sound and techniques that I didn't have time for yesterday after the turnaround trip the night before. I was in front of Buzz at the last show. This time I was in front of Steven. That's where you want to be. I loved his faces and mannerisms of just losing his shit and staring at one audience member at the end of a section of the song. He'd go crosseyed with his hair in front of his face, while playing a slide up or down to a certain note that would knock it out of the park and simultaneously hit a switch on an effect that put the icing on the fucking donut. And he would do all of this without any detriment to the quality of the song.

He had some killer fx going on during Eye Flys, Halo Of Flies and Amazon. Especially Amazon. Holy shit! I've seen the Melvins every tour for the last 23 years (besides 2 x 4 and the Jelvins). I've never heard anything as completely over the top as Steven's fx on Amazon. Yet they worked. They were as Kevin said about Buzz with the Tool fans "putting their balls and our heads. And then slowly grinding them". Mind. Melted. It was glorious!

saw a video of Amazon on my cell , i guess it was posted on the Melvins fb group. couldn't hear the bass but i have no doubt the guy did some great job on that song too

They were really high quality fx too. I usually use Boss stuff. I know what that shit sounds like. I have the MXR flanger pedal that became the EVH model. I've splurged on a $220 EHX Cathedral reverb pedal. This was a very strong, in your face type of a phaser, but without compromising the bottom end or really any other part either.
