I'm stressed out just reading about how stressful it is to get one of these fricken things online. 


The last three Melvins shows I had anxiety over securing online tickets...The last Time I figured to beat em' to the punch and got some tix early for Buzzo and Trev meist and then the next week booom show was cancelled. 

Generally I've gotten these limited pressed things directly at the shows...so I only have one or two.

How is it that you have something in your cart and it's gone by the time you pay.. is it just melvins limited stuff that sells out this fast or?

According to Haze not. I sometimes buy extra copies for friends to save shipping costs but not this time.

They are expensive - but I will add, that they are not just normal records. They are hand assembled screenprints and look very cool.

I believe the Melvins position is: "We usually put everything out on cheap CD or digital, and if we don't, most things get uploaded to youtube. It's not our public duty to provide low cost vinyl"

Honestly, that argument does hold weight. I think I'm at the point that, if that's what the mevlins have to do to keep being the melvins, I'm ok with it. It is a luxury, for sure.

If you look at it this way, they release about three 10-inchers per year. Each is in an edition of about 400. Each sells for $50. So, 1200 x $50 = $60,000. Subtract costs, and divide between the melvins and Am rep... nobody is buying lambos off of this.

I'd love if they were like $15 each, but frankly, people using spotify etc is exactly what caused this. So, the limited, expensive thing is okay with me I think (so long as I get one!!!!)

Well, first of all, I haven't lost my job, thank God. Second, like I said, it's impressive to see that no matter how expensive they can be, Melvins' AmRep vinyls always sold out in less than 15 minutes. I guess that more than anything, people still have a lot of money to spend even after all the economic disaster caused by COVID-19 worldwide.

The things are all sold out after 1 minute , sometimes even if you are still paying, unfortunately that is tired.

A lot of people were very fortunate and weren't negatively impacted.  I have been lucky to have picked up most of these.  Probably just redirected funds from not going to shows at all and going to bars and restaurants a lot less.

I took a paycut but luckily was not out if work last year. Many in my industry were. Even with the paycut, I'm saving on gas and childcare costs and various entertainment so we have been able to save more than before. Lots of folks who aren't directly negatively impacted still have the disposable income and buying online is the only way to spend it generally.

As far as bots, it's possible but I don't think it's too likely. This is not PS5 and the availability window varies so much (3 minutes, 15 minutes, sometimes 2 hours). Whatever site framework shoxop uses, there probably is a sniper software out there for it at a price, but it's probably not worth it. The way Haze does things probably would make it hard to reliably predict the site flow.

But it's not like every single record is scooped up to ebay. I think the scalpers are mostly doing it the old fashioned way, diligent and prepared but live in person.

I am fine with waiting for the $5 CD, or else a later factory version or a marked down "bent corner" one for 30-ish. That's what I did for Mullet, and the re-found Sabbath single.
I got online at the time of sale yesterday, saw they were sold out. Even if they were there, I wouldn't have paid $50 for it.
