Dude, sorry to hear about the asbestos (kinda sounds like a Melvins song name), that is no fun at all!  Glad you were able to snag one of the TG vinyls.  I did the same, along with one of the Nude with Boots Mackie small batch.

Anyone know what's in the $300 boxset that was in such limited #s? (the guy in front of me grabbed the last one)  Gareth said the rest were reserved and he was couriering a couple around the venue.

Agreed with Black Santa, just a hell of a show all around and that solo ending by Buzz was unforgettable.  Of course, the Dale announcement was the icing on top!!
Roseland is a great venue for them, was awesome seeing them at the Doug Fir but too small for most visits (& is moving)...just never the Crystal Ballroom again, please.

Probably doesn't need mentioning, but be sure to bring ear protection for the Boris set, those 6 Orange amps ain't fooling around.

Thank you for the well wishes my friend!  It's not horrible but even a small patch of asbestos is scary.  Luckily I have professional abatement coming next week after the restoration company said it could take a month to get scheduled.  Joys of being a homeowner!

Glad you had a great time!  I'll see if I can do some investigation into the $300 box. After drunk spending over $400 on that Revolver super deluxe 40th anniversary bundle, I might be dumb enough to get whatever it is if I'm having fun in the old hometown.  Next time I'm in Porkland I'll hit you up.  Would love to have a mellow hang out!

at the show on thur in portland they had the 40th anniversary poster and another show poster from the week prior in CA just cant remember the city- did anyone catch that? also was there a specific Portland poster? bc if there was i didnt see it- they had prints of the TB lp cover, the aforementioned fortieth anniversary poster and that other show poster- i skipped buying the annviersary poster at the show bc it was 60$ and secret serpents had it on their site- regular edition for $40 so i scooped one on there, but even on their site they had specific show posters for sf and seattle- anyone go to the show in portland notice anything i didnt?

Any reports from Seattle last night?  I just got to Spokane about an hour ago.  I can't find any takers for my extra ticket

Looking for a merch buddy for this tour myself if anyone is willing HMU. :)
Well, we'll always have "In the Air Tonight." Will that be your most enduring song?
You know, that song won't lie down. It just won't go away. I mean, there's a Mike Tyson moment associated with it now. It's just bizarre. I guess it has a bit of mystery, a lot of atmosphere, and the drums coming in, pinning people to the wall.

I have some extras I'd be willing to trade for some of the new stuff. I have a really cool bride screamed murder mackie sleeve from the last tour limited to 24. Glow in the dark haze electroretard, mackie sleeve bullhead and ozma from a couple of years ago. Any of this plus some cash for any new stuff at the merch table.

Hey buddy, sorry I didn't see this post until now. Would've been nice to say hi in person again.

Melvins were great. I pretty much knew what to expect with the set list but it was awesome nonetheless. Coady was a monster. Steven repeated the news about Dale's successful surgery and the crowd cheered.  Now I know what everybody's talking about with Buzz at the end of Boris.  It was pretty magical.  I didn't go too crazy on the merch.  I got Helen's shirt and I picked up one of the limited Electo-Bulls (37/46).  My first Uber driver of the night asked what was going on and when I told him it got us on the subject of loud music and we ended up figuring out that he had seen my old band multiple times back in the mid/late 90s.

With all that said, my night actually turned out kind of lame. I went with a friend who can often be a Jekyll/Hyde drinker. He's a really nice guy, always wants people to be happy and have fun but once he gets to that one drink too many stage, he gets ultra obnoxious.  When I got to his house before the show, I pretty quickly realized he had been slamming vodka/Red Bull and shots of Fireball. So, while Jekyll was who got in the Uber, by the time we got downtown, it was Hyde who got out.  I basically had to hide from him during the Melvins set but it pretty much took the wind out of my sails and I left him there after just a few Boris songs.  My fault, I knew better, but I probably won't go to many shows with him again.

whole show was amazing last night-

i went in totally unawares of Mr. PhylZZZ, other than some light gleaning from here, and they were definitely entertaining and a good warm-up for the melvs, that's for sure. i'm not sure if it was just the live sound being pre-tuned but they certainly gave me a Melvins-adjacent feel for the music they played, which makes me feel two things: 1. i wanna listen to some of their recorded music to see if what they sound like in that context is more distinct and 2. really makes me, even more than i already did, want to start my melvins-worship 2-person band. best chicago jazz i've heard in a bit.

now this is the first and most proper Melvins show i've been to in over a decade, besides the fact it's really the first show like this i've been to in half a decade since i've averaged working 50-60 hours a week for as long, and uh, i definitely let it out during the Melvins set. it certainly didn't help that Bullhead is also my favorite album, and that combo-ed with the greatest hits montage (which i personally appreciated as someone who hasn't made it to every melvins show ever in a 100 mile radius), made it a quasi-religious experience for me. i heard king buzzo preach his sermon on the mount. and it sounded a lot like boris. yeah, started their set out with a full band boris, then steve and coady made their exeunt at the end of things as buzz held us enrapt with a stripped-down participle to bring it all to a close. if anyone else was there, i was the one up front that looked like they were having an aneurysm, filled with ecstasy and zeal, barking prayers.

i can't lie and say i was super familiar with Boris before (not that i was intentionally avoiding them- by all accounts, i should have already been a disciple), although i had been listening to Heavy Rocks in preparation for the show, and with as hard as i went for the Melvins portion of the night, i think my neck is glad i didn't go feral with grace twice in one night. their set was a different dimension entirely, in many sensuous ways- the must and incense of fog machine vapors filling the nose, the bone-conducing volume of their amplifier walls, their gothic style and the change in lighting... the worship service began. also, the noisy electronic conjuration that i believe they ended soft edge(?) with was mind-shattering. would certainly make the effort to see Boris again if they perform nearby. also, they played boris as their encore, making it the third seperate time it was played in the night, although i think it was more than fitting.

as for a merch roundup, me and the old lady went to the melvins booth before the show, i considered getting the crazy circus tee that was from last tour(???) but ended up getting the bullhead for myself, night goat for the gf. also got the 14CD package set, as it seemed the best bang for the buck if you weren't going to nab any vinyl (too rich for my blood, even as much as i love some albums), and threw in the party pack for some goodies, even if it seemed a little spendy. The wife didn't want to get any Boris merch before the show started... but afterwards she was converted, and got a tour shirt and some of the pins for herself, and the amplifier worship service tee for me. I was half tempted by the EQD pedal they were selling, just because of the novelty, but after i asked the merchman if it was limited to the tour in any way, which it wasn't, i lost my interest.

all in all, an amazing night.
