I don't think i've ever noticed the lyrics for a song written down for them on stage before.
I remember that Dale had lyrics for A History of Bad Men taped to his cymbal stand on the ASA tour. After the show, my buddy jumped on stage and grabbed it and the roadie made him give it back lol.

They should hide all lyrics from Steven. Keep that dude off the mic at all cost haha. To me, He butchered a history of bad men at the NC show.

nothing can beat the new Night Goat intro  :?

Has he incited audience participation yet this tour? You know, like "Come on Toledo, let me see those hands and sing along if you know the words!"

I love that guy. He is an awesome musician and i love his upbeat positivity. I like how it contrasts to buzz's stage presence. I get the complaints about the things he says during a show or whatever and some of his singing on melvins' songs but it doesn't bother me.

Oh I like Steven a ton. He's one of my favorite players the bands ever had. I'm just not understanding the clapalong approach to night goat. Not sure it's even a complaint. Just don't get it. I think Steven rules though. Great part of the band.

))))((((

The holy trinity of Melvins bassists is Kevin, Mark and Trevor in that order. Steven is a LONG way down the list.

The Melvins have only had three bass players ever. Joe, Dale and Steven. (Based entirely on the presence of a Melvins solo record.) Of these three it's possible Steven still comes last for me. And that's weird to say because I like him, mostly. Love him sometimes.

Steven is great in the band, and I do not see him going anywhere. I love the absolute cheese factor he brings - I mean, starting a clap-along to Night Goat? That is totally absurd! And because of that - it works. Screaming "King Buzzo!", "Wooooo!" and "Los Angeles! How are you doing?" and all of the goofy stage moves are all just over the top fun that I love because I know it makes hardcore fans cringe while at the same time, makes brand new fans excited - but is all right out of the 1970s rock and roll handbook, and certainly right out of the KISS handbook. I wish that Steven would start spitting blood during a bass solo.

And at the same time? He can play really well (bass playing is like a cross of old school Gene Simmons with Paul McCartney), always gives 110%, has killer tone, approaches the songs in his own way.

Plus - the whole Redd Kross angle really works for me.

But I also miss all of the other bass players - I would love to see a show with any of them again. I never got to see them with Joe, which bums me out.

Steven is a gnarly bass player for sure. I have to say i lost all interest in Off! when he left the group. I'm even sure they're still good, but I love his energy on those songs and it just isn't the same without him.

from Melvins official.  :(

Man, reading this post on Instagram half asleep the morning of the show had me freaking out for a moment. I saw "dedicated to Dale Crover" and thought he had died. Was relieved the show was still going on with Coady Willis since I had already driven 4+ hours to see it but still very concerned for one of my absolute favorite drummers of all time.

Got to say that Willis did an absolutely outstanding job as Crover's replacement. Killer show and from my angle, Willis didn't miss a beat. In terms of a last minute replacement, I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job.

That doesn't sound good at all emergency spinal surgery just days before a tour due to start. Glad to hear Coady is filling in if it couldn't be Dillard than Coady is the next best 'Melvins family' option.

All the best to Dale.

No disrespect to Dillard but Willis absolutely smokes him on drums.

If you're a fan of the Cheapy CDs, you are in luck!

Kind of sucks not to have those Dale backing vocals, but no real complaints about Coady's drumming. Real beastly presence. Incredibly fast version of "Honey Bucket."
did Coady do any vocals?

I do not think so
yeah he did. he had the same headset as Dale. it was on the later tours.

He definitely didn't do any vocals at the show I went to of this current tour.

Here's a clip of it! Coady's floppy fringe is a bit weird to get used to seeing. Also i wonder what he makes of Steven's Jared impression on A History Of Bad Men.

That's about the only thing I could gripe about with the show I went to. Would way rather hear Buzz handle the vocals on this one.
