seeing as though it's current, any one read the book by sacher masoch? toture garden- octave mirbeau, or 120 days of sodom- marquis de sade?

oh my god 120 days of sodom is so argh its perverted i wasn`t able to read more than a few sites.

yeah i have read a reasonable amount of 120 days of sodom - i think someone typed it up on the net as typing practice - u mite be able to find it if u search for it.

it was quite perverse - but it hasnt left as lasting an impression on me as  that of a movie based on the book - i think it is called 'Salo'. It was shown once only at a film festival in my city and had been banned for about 25 years.

Anyway the director is very talented (or rather was - he got murdered some time soon after making this film) and beautifully depicts the gruesomeness contained within the book without a flinch.

There were so many people that walked out of that movie because they just couldnt handle it - i didnt. Watching it made you feel nausius - sick to the stomach. I and the people i was with had to cover our eyes a few times - and it just got worse and worse as it went on.

120 days was pretty twisted, but in the forward to my copy it mentions all of the events as being like a banquet of 600 meals. not all of them are going to suit your tastes, and you should find yours and not judge someone elses. venus in furs was an interesting one, although severin gets a bit tiresome with his constant whiny proclemations of love.
