Just got back from the All Tomorrow's Parties festival where the Melvins played on Friday night. I'm really knackered so won't go into detail, but here's a brief report on the show.

Basically, it was the same deal as the London show the night before: Same setlist (as far as I could tell), same outfits, and same guest spot from David Yow. Would have been nice to hear a couple of different songs, but seeing as it was brilliant the first time, it was brilliant the second time too.

I'll give more info later and upload some photos (they're still from the crappy camera phone, so not great quality, but I was nearer the front this time, so they're a bit clearer). Here's one of Buzzo to whet your appetite.

consider my appetite "whet"

Melvins at ATP were awesome! Best band I saw in the whole weekend (Including Slint, whose show I was slightly dissapointed about)! The only downside was my mate collapsing after smoking too much weed and we had to drag him to the far side near where the bar was so he could lie down (thankfully he was alright and had suffered a semi-whitey). Fucking Grade-A stuff!

Sorry, don't have recordings for this, or the London show. Wish I did. I'd be very interested if anyone has any.

Here are the remaining photos of the Melvins at ATP.

again, apologies for the poor quality as they're taken with my phone, not a proper camera.

Here's one my friend took with a better camera, but from further away.

One final thing for you all: There was a little program for the weekend that had bios and photos of all the bands that played. Here's a scan of the Melvins' page:

Thanks man. What was the crowd like compared to the London gig?

Battlecat

Hard for me to tell what the crowd was like at ATP as I was in the front row and watching the band, so I didn't really notice anything else that was going on!

That said, it seemed pretty full in there, and from what I could tell they went down well. There was a bit of moshing on some of the songs, and someone crowd-surfed during Night Goat (as did David Yow). Pretty different audience from the London gig, obviously - more of the intense, nerdy types and fewer of the hell-for-leather metallers. The response seemed good, and a lot of people I know picked them out as one of the highlights of the festival, so they may have made some new fans...

Cool, thats good to hear. I wish I could of gone to ATP as well but it had sold out by the time the Melvins were announced. Oh well...
