Quote from: TosTjust got this too.

tracklist is wrong on mine as well.
and upon first listen, the levels do sound kind of odd. jello's vocals sound stranger than usual on some songs. I'll have to listen to it again with headphones, as opposed to half volume in my apartment, but many of the tracks seem to be brought down by his vocals...

the other songs are cool, but even some of the remixes seem to have the vocals out of place with the beat.

But its a great supplement to Never breathe... :)

TosT

a supplement yeah, it's good as long you don't think of it as a proper album on its own.

the artwork is truly awesome, very nice picture inside the cd booklet, i wish i had a scanner... a clip of a larger painting? it must be on the net somewhere

benton netty

does anyone have this kicking around soulseek or anything? i'm going to buy it, even though i hated the last one, but i'm too lazy to send away for it before it hits stores.

The AT review puts so much emphasis on the production, guest producers/remixes, etc.
I honestly don't think they would press an album where the final mix has been fucked up.  There must be a reason, ie: it must be done on purpose.

AT sent me an email last Friday saying mine had been mailed, hopefully it comes today so I can give my review . . .

Hank Hill

it came today . . .
Halo of Flies is genius.

I pre-ordered mine at CD Universe along with Miles Davis - "The Complete Cellar Door Sessions 1970 8)", so I should have it late next week. I'm sure if they were defective, AT would have posted something about it on their site. When the vinyl's available at AT, I'll order that too. Cool that they split it up with an extra 7".

TGH

My copy still hasn't arrived. Which is weird because I usually get AT stuff rather quickly. I did find the album on SlSK though (Thanks hello...).

Wow, Jello should have let Buzz sing California Uber Alles. The song sounds a million times cooler with Buzz on backing voc.
This isn't a time for lectures!

...truly awesome indeed!!!

There's a link inside the cover for Camille Rose Garcia's site (www.camillerosegarcia.com) which has ALOT of her pics from exhibitions and stuff in the 'Gallery', inc. 'Uranium 238 Comes to Town' which is in 'Neither Here Nor There'. I'm not sure if the pics from the Sieg Howdy ep are there though.

Anyone who likes the cover artwork should check it out!!!!
take care,

the ep is good.
I dont hate Jello or anything, but some of this gets a bit too much, but the music is good.
and the remixes are growing one me :)
the deaf nephews remix is like chocolate to my ears  :?

glen

been listening since yesterday. top notch.   eloctroretard reminiscent.     gotta say I am a bit disappointed with the locusts remix.   don't take a song of that caliber and turn it in to a wall of noise. it shouldn't be.          making me realize how much I am going to miss kevin.  that rumble is going to be hard match, can it be done?

okay, i got the album off slsk. thanks TGH for the hint.

the weirdness that people were referring to is this:

jello's voice is too dry and mixed too loud. his timing/rhythm during "halo of flies" at points is terrible. this is where people were getting the feeling that his voice didn't "match" the music. the vocal just doesn't sit in the mix very well at all at times, which is too bad, because it seems like this album is a little less muddy-sounding than the last one overall.

i think the album is pretty much more of the same. the melvins playing basic rock and roll with jello spewing his bullshit over the top. there are a couple of moments that are cool, like the country breakdown in "dumb kids" followed by the really sludgy "wholly buy bull," which is summarily ruined by jello's boring soapboxing (and has a stupid pun as a title). THAT song is followed by "voted off the island," which gets it title from a goddamn reality show. retarded.

and...a schwartzenegger impression? it's just lame and old-farty.

and then, remixes of shitty songs. i really shouldn't buy this, but i'm sure i will. somewhere, buzz is cackling.

i would just love it if the melvins would get back to work making melvins music, and i have to wonder if this big business thing will just be another dilution of their pure rock...purity. some guy playing drums over dale? i'm worried.

it sure is.  have you not figured this out already, conda?  i thought everyone knew this was tony...
i remember there was a lot of dislike going around for tony, but i don't see why.  maybe he has reinvented himself as mr. netty, but i've only good things to think about him..
in fact, i shall applaud him promptly.
