I just popped this in and gave it a listen. It has been a while and I kinda forgot how crushing this album is. The song Manky, for instance, is sweet molasses. But what am I saying, all of the songs are! Definitely a nod to their heavier, non-experimental side.

Ron Maiden

i like the slow one that goes "that shit keeps coming around" i do like that album too. not my favorite, but if you want melvins metal...there you go. shouldnt the track off Demon Night soundtrack be on it? Insant Larry?

it might fit the style

TGH

In my opinion; it's the best of the Trilogy.
This isn't a time for lectures!

AMAZON will be on the setlist with the new lineup, sounds so good with 2 drummers

the maggot is a classic.
it has a perfect flow right up to the highlight - "See How Pretty, See How Smart"
Beauty is a Rare Thing - Ornette Coleman

perzo)))

but why did they split all the tracks? prolly just to fuck w/people.
their most consistent heavy album.
Again,a gorgeous tragedy approaches,in the wake of those thought contained. But sonic reverberations shake the very marrow of the fragile chamber of mans lifeforce, and again the minions quiver in fear,as daylight fails to come, and Melvins walk the battlefield, bored and hungry...

totally agree. i keep wondering what was thought when they allowed the drums to be mixed so low.

i've heard that the tracks were split to keep away illegal downloaders.
but it did fuck with people as well, so i guess they achieved whatever it is they wanted.
What do you think you're looking at, sugar tits?

Yeah, his drums are buried, but the album still kills. I appreciate the Maggot.  :D

The Maggot and H.A.T. are my two favorite Melvins albums. I've been listening to The Maggot again frequently for the past few days. Just plain awesome. Some of the best, most brutal material for the live show too.

lord of heaviness

I will say though, drum mix aside, this album kills. amazingly heavy.

Thanks for creating this thread. The Maggot is definitely the most underrated Melvins release. It's got everything that I like about the band on the album - even a Kevin bass intro.

Sometimes when I need something to throw on that will really kick my ass, like if I've been listening to too much wuss rock, I put on the Maggot and nothing sounds sweeter.

Where did you hear AMAZON with two drummers? For that matter, how do you know it will be in the setlist? Please tell us.
