"Lay low, never prove your power"
from As It Was off of Ozma

dirty south in the house

"like a sordid lore a lie, we're talkin man to man"-FUCKIN ANACONDA!

"spokin like a dreamer, don't piece me in!"

"SHE WAS MY WAY TO BED, AND I COULD RUN MY TEETH!"

I could go on and on.  i think it's funny.  until the melvins came around for me i didn't think screamin nonsense could be so fun.  i know these words probably aren't right but what the hell ya know.  god bless buzz the king of making a bad ass song about nothing.

cooter

"Peel the skin away from my eyes"--As it was

"I like to hold my pride in between my hands, so I can feel it hang"--Revulsion

(pride=penis)

brain center at whipples

"I lay like YOU!!!!!!!!"

"Little pigs and Little Little heartleaks . . hugh! hugh!"

"Pigs don't let it No no no Like sinners Watch that rock 'n' roll Pigs don't let it No no no no no!"

The Chalupa

"boris likes a lot of little pigs to kick"
-boris
all of hooch

GrimReaper

You sink a my swan - from Hooch

This is one of my favorite lines. To me, it is like an emphatical rebuttal to something you hold dear. A swan is beauty to me, and for some fucked up reason, you just sank it, Why? A personal attack on me?

If you are going to quote your favorite Melvins lyric, give us some back ground on what this means to you, this will set up some interesting responses.

What does Sink my swan mean to you?

Great idea, I should have done this in the first place...

Mine were:

1. "I cut the throat of the bill-e goat and let it bleed" from "black bock" - Stag

-What I really liked about this is the feel of the song is so very happy almost childlike, and then you get hit with this lyric... The mental picture I get is a child skipping along singing this somewhat distrubing lyric... How can you not love that combination?

2. "Let it all Be" - Bootlicker

-A rather obvious lyric from the Melvins... Dont worry so much, Dont stress out over the unimportant, live the moment... There are a million interpretations of these words, all of which I think are great.
-Also matches the feel of the song brilliantly
"There is no exquisite beauty without some strangeness in the proportion."

I thought that this song was anti the 'let it all be' sentiment. The lyric is conversational - buzzo is telling someone:

sorry man
I aint gonna be told
let it all be

The way i interpret it is as if there were a 'to' before the 'let it all be':

I aint gonna be told to
let it all be

I know this is something that pisses me off extremely - when i am annoyed or angry about something and someone tells me to just relax - dont worry about it - or its not important - to let it all be.

And the mood of the song is one of chilled-out frustration - as if it was sung thru a sneer - like looking back on events and thinking about wot u would say in hindsight.

I think there is no greater compliment to a song than two vastly different interpretations.

My favorite lyrics are:

"Everybody's hungry,  everybody's high
We sat around and asked ourselves if it was all a lie"

From AMAZON/The maggot

These two lines just beautifully captures what I sometimes feel life is really about : futility.

"It's nice to take a narrow mind
And hold it in heaven "

From Shevil/Stoner Witch

A beautiful sentiment I agree with totally.

I like a lot of other stuff which on paper don't make too much sense. But when sung by Buzzo  with all sorts of emotions and convictions it just gives my the chills (like the stuff he sings in the fool... right before grinding starts.

The Wise Shotgun

He's Somebody's Daughter...Lizzy...oh, yes..

That song always reminds me of my father...

Does that make me gay?

KurtCobain2902

"I've got a belly full of pride, crawling thru my intestine"

Self-explanatory. He thinks highly of himself.
