GrimReaper

Is the show sold out? I don't have any tickets yet.

Last few times Melvins didn't sell out the Boardwalk in Sacramento. Is Jello a big draw?

wlly

i work at the boardwalk and no it's not sold out.
jello's never been here but the henry rollins spoken word is tonight too.
saw em on halloween and it was a good show, but there should be a melvins set before they play with jello.
i'm about to go buy the guys some porn.

My girlfriend and I got there an hour early, and happily the first in line.
The first thing I noticed was all the punks  that smelled bad in denim jackets, studs, and backpatches.  I knew that, especially here in Sacramento, where Sac Punks are known for being violent, stupid, and drunk(well, moreso than others), there would be a major conflict between the crowd tonight.
And I was right.
As Altamont was finishing and the sound man was adjusting pedals and chords, and as DSS took the stage and did his noise deal(to my great happiness), the group of punks I noticed before the show, all in a congregation on the right side of the stage, started covering their ears and frowning at the noise.   I've heard far far far noisier, harsher noise acts, even for DSS's standards, and this was not bad at all. Actually, it was quite pleasing.
Well, their frowns turned to yelling and cursing at Dave, which turned into a group of them jumping up and hawking spit AT HIM.  many of their attempts were succesful and much of it landed on his back, his bass, and near him on the stage.
I became IN-FUCKING-FURIATED  and wanted to punch their fucking skulls into the the stage.
This by no means is the worst of it.  My gf looked to me with a sad, dissappointed look and pointed to lit cigarrettes on the stage.  I looked, and saw them lighting up, then flicking them at dave!!!!!!!!!! they were literally spitting at him, yelling at him, and throwing LIT cigarrettes DIRECTLY at him onstage.
My friend and I wanted to go over there and throw them out, but, after about 5-8 minutes of this, as DSS started setting up his mic, a rather rank looking punk started spitting at him, from the FRONT OF THE FUCKING STAGE! and grabbing at his mic stand and pulling it back towards him!!!
at this moment, I knew SOMEHTING had to happen.
and it did!  :P   Jesus(I only know him as this, the Melvins sound/road crew guy) pushed his way through the crowd at ultra high speed, grabbed that fucker by his shoulders and shoved him as hard as he could, through the crowd, past me(to the left side of the stage, near the exit door)(and yes, I helped and gave him a nice little FUCK YOU shove for you guys  :D) RIGHT INTO the door, he didnt bother to open it for him, he just PUSHED HIM INTO the door with a deep, loud CLUNK,  it opened, he threw him down the two steps, into the OTHERr door, then shut the door behind him, and all of us gave him the biggest applause I've ever heard at a show.

Other than that, yet another awesome fucking Melvins show. :)
memorable moments:(other than the obvious) were the Bloated Pope, and a great rendition of Anaconda.   :D

btw, it was Dave's birthday that night.  isn't that fucking great?   :(

Branch Breaker

That's really uncalled for. Too bad nobody gave that guy a  nice little FUCK YOU shiv in the eye.

that show was so fucking great... i went to sf and didn't see the melvins play live but then i got a chance at sacramento... as i said, i had an extra but when i got there the will call was inside and there were no actual "tickets"... she asked where the other person was because i was alone and i said i was just going to give the ticket to somebody... the dude before me in will call was having trouble with some shit and she told me he couldn't see the show due to his problems with his papers, so i said that he can take the ticket...that was right as altamont was starting so i rushed up to where the stage was and never really even saw the dude...i really liked altamont too... dale on guitar with sasha popovic on drums... and yoshii.... crazy sick band.... i distinctly remember their last two songs being some of the heaviest shit of the entire night... i wish i coulve gotten an altamont cd but i got a melvin tshirt instead which is still pretty cool...then dss's toast as i like to put it, and of course that lame fucking handful of people just wiggin out for no reason. pigs was great... i know they played AMAZON, that was a good one... the pope was cool... let it all be and nightgoat go without saying...after cali uber alles in the jello set i went to the back because i was pretty beat from driving up from the bay...what were the exact setlists though? does anybody know?
