More Intolerance??? Why are there fewer Female Melvins fans than male?

the thing though is that i hardly get to hang out with them.

one of my friends digs about every cool/good band i can imagine, and has a killer personality.
she is probably the coolest chick i will ever know.

hey pung pung, if you go to a melvins concert you'll find tons. well, not tons of course, but maybe 5-10 if you're lucky
if you go to a bigband show, most of them will probably be patton fans

yes, patton fans are hot!   but there were quite a few reeeeaaallly hot chicas at the last melvins show here and they were definitely there for melvins.  a lot of them even dug the trio convulsant.

I've heard this complaint before. I got into the Melvins in highschool and they have been my favorite since-it's been about 15 years now. I'm not sure it's so much a female vs. male thing to like the Melvins. I know plenty of guys that listen to utter crap. I think it's your ability to have exposure to different kinds of music that can dictate what you listen to. Most people only know what the radio feeds them and have no idea that there is something else to listen to. I think your peer groups can shape what you listen to. Luckily for me I had music collector nerd friends who exposed me to so many different bands that I was free to explore what I really liked and disliked without feeling like I had to fit in. But you know, there is a lot of pressure for females to be sex symbols. I watch you guys talk a lot here about this chick is hot and that chick is hot. I think most females that give in to that pressure are out shaking their butts to hip hop. So, I say if you want more chicks to be into cool music..befriend them and expose them to all sorts of music. Not all of them will get it but a few of us do.
