All in all it was pretty cool.  Bumped into Dale at a pizza place a block away from the theater.  Said, "Hi Dale" and let him enjoy his dinner.  The films were very "underground" in vibe, and disturbing at times.  The music was loud and dissonant and helped contribute to the disturbing vibe.  You pretty much couldn't see the band at all on the stage because it was so dark in the theater.  They sounded amazing though.  Out of all of the music the only "songs" I could make out were "Pigs Of The Roman Empire" and I think it was "Roman Dog Bird" from Lysol.  Oh and it was David Scott Stone on bass.

Warning on the theater doors . . .

The stage setup . . .

Looks like you were sitting right by me.

I thought the whole thing was pretty cool. I didn't like that first musician though. The Joan of Arc movie was pretty cool, but they should have let the Melvins play "Joan of Arc" during it and sent the other guy home.

The "Kranky Klaus" movie ruled. That's when they played the POTRE tunes. That movie was very entertaining and the Melvins rocked during it.

I didn't like the "Spooky" movie very much. Kind of boring.

The backyard wrestler movie was pretty cool too. That's when they played the Lysol song, and that ruled of course. I thought the whole thing was pretty entertaining.

It was a really interesting crowd. I saw all of Sonic Youth spread throughout the crowd, and David Byrne. I don't usually get star-struck, but that made the experience slightly more exciting.

ha..yeah..thurston moore & kim gordon were in the fifth row,  directly behind us! Plus David Byrne at large too. I'd like to say I "saw" the Melvins, but I didn't really "see" them (they were on & off stage before the house lights were ever on..which was kinda intriguing), though I could have spit on Dale's kit, thats  how close we were! Can't even imagine how the hell THEY could see what they were playing! Maybe from the light of the screen? D.S. Stone walked along the aisle with his feedback dingus, and we were right on the aisle seats! Thought the boys were superb throughout, but I'm afraid I didn't think much of the first performer either...he held my interest for about 10 minutes, when his (Strat?) guitar sound was the equivalent of a de-tuned (or severely broken) combo organ, but then it became so deafening for such a prolonged period of time that  I thought someone was twisting balloons over my left shoulder (it was my left eardrum fluttering)..personally, his improv (which I assumed it was, to an extent) was kinda lacking any real sense of dynamics, both in terms of sound level & melody (as opposed to lack thereof), and how, to me, at least, what he was "playing" (creating is a better word) was syncing up to the movement on screen..(the professors among us can argue that the lack of melody IS melody, sure, I understand)...I also thought he detracted from the Melvins set during the last two movies, too (note: he was LOUDER than The Melvins - I shit you not!!). Noise is noise, and I love it, don't get me wrong, but there's a subjective fine line between "art" & just plain battery of the ears for the sake of battery...sometimes I just can't help asking myself "what is the point of all this & where is it going?" And believe it or not, all that white noise DOES cause long-term damage to your hearing after a while, take it from an old man like me (need more proof? Just saw the hearing doc last week, and I've got permanent high-end hearing loss already :()! The films were ok, too, up to a point...pretty much "home movie" quality  & vibe, with minimal editing...now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go spin "Metal Machine Music"....

I was sitting directly behind David byrne and I didn't even realize it untill reading all the people that were there...I remember looking at his white hair the whole time....I remember thinking he looked familiar subsonciously...and the same thing with  o' malley & anderson....I remember thinking who the fuck is that but I was looking around at everyone there and thinking it about so many people at once I didn't focus in and recognize who they were...I also think I saw someone from the board but I can't remember his name on here

Damn, David Byrne was there ?!?!?  damn, damn, damn !!

Burnt Bride

Hearing loss is one of my big fears- sorry to hear about your hearing loss!  Do you have constant, noticeable ringing in your ears, or is it just noticeable when it's quiet around you?
May all your dreams come true!

I will not kill you, Conda, perhaps only wound you with my razor-sharp axe. SCHNAP!!!  : )   - SchnabelA
