Didn't care for the opener, but Big B and the mighty M's slayed as usual.  It's pretty much not a surprise when the Melvins are good live.  The only bummer was that the house PA fucking sucked.  It sounded as if all the horns were already blown.  Fuckin clubs.

Actually, I deeply deeply regretted forgetting my earplugs in the car.  The volume was nearly unbearable and I couldn't hear Buzz's goddamn vocals at all.

ohhhhhhhhh, i just got back from seeing cursive and forgot mine too.  now i got a headache. i feel your pain.

damn my ears are still ringing.  the melvins should completely eliminate my hearing in a few weeks.

Yeah, I don't know if they had their own touring soundguy or it was a house guy, but overall, the sound was pretty terrible.  Again, no horns in the top cabinets, no vocals, and overall, it was loud enough from the stage without the soundguy pushing it even harder.  Sound sounds a lot better when it's not proverbially ass raping you.  I heard the next night in Columbus sounded incredibly good, but then again, Little Brothers is rumored to have a fantastic in house system.

I'd have to say the loudest show I've ever heard was Bob Mould in this tiny little venue (The Doug Fir) about a year ago (maybe the locust were louder, or just noisier hard to say). 
Felt like someone had plugged the amp directly into my head.  Ears were ringing 3 days later. (as a side note I barely recognized him as he was about 100 pounds lighter than any of the pictures I had seen of him.)  Nonetheless there is such a thing as too loud of a concert.

I disagree.  There's totally such a thing as too loud of a show.  The human ear has a natural compression to it when confronted with insane volume levels.  This greatly hinders what you're able to hear.
