Believe it or not, there weren't too many artists that stuck literally with that theme.  It was more of an art show where the pieces might have something to do with the melvins.

There's a theme to it; otherwise it's just another art show.   You give artists one rule; you'll find it much more interesting than saying 'do the fuck whatever'.

I thought being an artist was all about avoiding restrictions? Overcoming boundaries? bending the envelope?

I see your point, ass man. I guess my point is that I can't see any kind of criteria that would make a certain photo/painting/whatever a melvins cover or not. Seems like that willis painting could have easily been used for never breathe. But this is all tied to how I see the melvins. To me the melvins are about doing whatever the fuck you what regardless of everything. Seems liek that's what those artists did, no?
