thats from last night in brooklyn at luna lounge.

night 1: oct 5: irving plaza.
was really good. people going crazy. your blessened was dope. buzz with his buzz fan. saw vinney and ian. there was a pit. some dude stepped on my foot.
my neck hurt the next day something fucking wicked.

night 2: oct 6: luna lounge.
must be a new venue. north six closed down and this sure will do as a replacement. no re-entry but that was ok. pabst in a bottle? fine by me. noticed the squid shirt from new years was only in xl. kind of annoying. got an eggnog shirt the day before anyway.
i was really fucking out of sorts but i felt better after downing vitamin c and echinacea.
venue was small. the previous night i was all the way on the left. those big biz guys are nice and all but the melvins are ma boys so this night i was directly in front of buzz - which i havent been since the first time i saw them. before i was legal.
they played: "i wanna hold your hand" [some of you ol timers might remember this as a beatles classic].
reminds me of the "what do you want to hear melvins cover" i dont recall this entering my wishlist but it was amusing nonetheless.

jesus you know how many people were at these goddamn shows. are any of you from new york? not the ones that matter anyway. no one came up and said: "hey dytm let me buy you a DRANK." wtf.
2nd night much better than first. also i was looking forward to dwight fry the second night hardcore.

i like big biz and all but i just wanna see melvins. lucky i bring silly putty with me now wherever i go and ive got a legit prescription for klonopin if waiting gets too much for my mind tassles.

well bitches, this is the best review i could muster. you would think a qwerty of my caliber could slather on the deli mustard and not the dijon but ive gotta life too, ma.

nice line.

first night was fucking great and i'm glad you were somewhere in the room at the same time as me.
i'm sorry i missed the second night that i already bought tickets for.  i had some incredibly important things to do that will eventually lead to my happy marriage - like you said.
i'm not losing my enthusiasm!  i'll get another tattoo to prove it to you.

seacrest, out.

Great review.  Be careful with the klonopin, I've know some to have a bad reaction with it.  I recommend ativan or valium.
Come to the west coast, like Hanz said.

Dwight Fry was amazing.  Haven't screamed along to a band live like that since I was 18.

Kinda getting over Big Biz to be honest.   Wasnt a huge fan to begin with, and Im starting to worry about
how their bass sound affects The Melvins like (doesnt feel as low end heavy anymore.)  The two drums are still
a huge hit in my book though....

nycjoe

The two drum thing was amazing.  Anybody got the set list for the Fillmore show?

ithanks for the concern but ive been taking this for a while [when i need to, not steadily]. i know its habit forming but i feel i use it appropriately.
also: fuck yes im coming to the west coast. hopefully this winter.
does that mean i get to meet you BHM? i know hanz would be like "yo whats good"
but you're so eluuuuuusive
and anonymous.
or maybe we know each other and have been pen pals. are you in prison?

Good review, and I agree on the BB-part. Waterworks clicked much to easy, and I got tired of it after a short while. I hope they boil it down to a trio on future albums.

I was in the balcony for the Irving Plaza show, with the gf and a co-worker who had never seen the Melvins before. They were both pretty blown away. After the show I asked my co-worker what he thought, he said "I feel like my ears just got raped". I thought that was a pretty good review.

At Luna, I started out right in front of Buzz. After a few songs I made my way over to the pit. That was fun. I think the Luna show was better overall. The gf was on the sidelines for this one, and after her second time seeing the Melvins, she said she really likes Melvins concerts. Now she wants mix-cd's. Woohoo!

I like the dual drummers too. I think Jared is a great bass player. The last two tours with BB seem to me like they are closer to straight rock shows. Nothing wrong with that, but I would like them to bring back the weird noise crap they used to do. The last tour with BB was a bit more exciting, maybe it was just a little more fresh, everything and everybody was a little more excited or something. Especially both drummers, they were high-fiving each other and going nuts. Not this time. With Kevin, they seemed a little heavier, a little darker, and more noisey. I guess what I'm trying to say is I liked the Kevin era better.

anaconda

Of course, Kevin was f_ckin amazing in the Melvins. If only he could have kept the drugs off-stage.
