Alright. I'm alive and well, I have my flask refilled with Bushmill's and Bad has just warned me not to get too fucked up before he gets here.

Well fuck that.

I woke up this morning with over $70 bucks in my pocket, 2 24 oz MGD's, I passed out before I could drink, a killer poster not yet damaged, and yes, tonight another Melvins show.

Last night kicked ass.

I walked up and see these dudes and one looks exactly like Anaconda in his Squidhead days with the big glasses and long hair. I have been looking for a ticket and one of the dudes says he has an extra at will call.

GrimReaper

As i'm talking to them Dale and Cody come out of the Casbah and jump in a new 4 wheel drive, 4 door pickup. Looks like Dale is becoming Harry Homeowner.

I talk more to these guys and the one guy says he used to be on the list and what happened to Gene and used to post here at the Melvins.net. I ask what his user name was and he can't remember. Well that is probably bull shit unless you're Lorax Bricklebrit but OK. He asks if $40 is OK and you know what? Yes it's OK. You don't know what I've bee through tonight.

Buy the way I just spent $14 on a cab to get to this computer at HoJo's to get this rant down before I forget it all. Bad is running late and will miss the 12 noon Alaska flight.

So the doors open and I go to get a drink and Buzz is sitting with some German guy answering questions. Jarod comes to the bar and I buy him a Corona and ask about the up comming release. He says April they will start, no new songs yet. The bar tender gives Cody 24 free drink tickets. He has returned and Dale is there. I ask Buzz if any of his relatives where effected by the flooded Chehalis and he tells me his parents moved to Olympia and Dale's Mom moved to Olympia and Dale's father is dead. So that ends said conversation with the King.

I watch as he takes pictures with fans and fuck that guy is a class act.

ever spend 20 minutes posting and you lose your post during a spell check? I have and it pisses me the fuck off so thats why i am splitting this up

So the melvins are is street clothes and Jarod is showing Buzz this Gold Roman costume he is going to wear and then they go up on stage and start playing, They play about 5 songs and announce that the show is over thanks for comming out! I am dumbfounded and then I realize this was the greatest sound check I have ever witnessed.

A while later Big Business starts playing and I am right in front of the stage, no pushing, no crowd. No 14 year old girls trying to kick my ass. Peace. What a great set. Toshi has to be part of the band proper now.

that reminds me I talked to Toshi also before the show I asked if he would join the stage with the Melvins and he said no just Big B. He speaks perfect English like he grew up in Baltimore.

Big Business morphs into the Melvins and the crowd is filling in but no rough housing at all. One of the greatest shows I have seen since the last time I saw them.

You want a set list don't you? You know the GrimReaper does not have that sort of brain power!

There was this girl up front that looked like Sweet and I go "Hey Michelle!" It wasn't her.

Fucken Bad is calling already asking me to take off work tommorow and hit TJ but my wife will not put up with that shit.

Back to the story which is about over. I bought a killer poster 48/69. I picked that because 7 x 8 is 56 but last night I thought it equalled 48.

See ya tonight.

Aha, Grimpeaper, I probably got pictures of you.  Gene will get a kick out of that, I wonder who the guy is that sold you the ticket.  Michelle wasn't there because I was talking (trying) to her on the phone~ she said don't make her feel bad that she wasn't there (I think?)

Well told Grim.  This reminds me to bring enough cash to the SF show.  How the fuck am I gonna get posters back without crushing them?!?!?  Shit!  Mail em I guess.....If I can find a post office while I'm hungover.

Good review, Grim.  I REALLY wish i was at the show, or even tonights show.   Woulda been fun to throw back some booze with you and Bad Ron, and bHm too!
At least I have NYE to look foward too.  I'm super excited for that show, since my boss just gave the go ahead to take NYE off, so I'll be flying into SF on 12/29.

Grim and Ron are good people to throw back some drinks with.  Had a good time with em at the last Seattle show.

1. Purchase poster tubes now in WA..take them w/ you to Cali.

2. Place posters in tubes at the venue..enjoy show..fly care free back to WA.

that's a good idea, but I might be on a train.....Long as I have the tubes, and get big enough ones......and the room.....I'll figger it out. :)

My first post here. Just need to say that this was my first time seeing the Melvins live and it was incredible. My wife and I were lucky enough to get tickets to last nights show (we had driven 2 hours and werent sure if it would pan out, lucky us). Parked right near the door, walked a few blocks to get some great Italian food, came back when the doors opened. Walked in and there is Buzz, sat right there across from him sipping my soda and mesmerized by his and the rest of the bands presence. May sound silly, but I've been waiting to see these guys for about a decade. Anyway, show starts and we realize we're just too far from the stage to see much. After the opening/sound check thing, we moved right up to center stage. We were literally against the stage and the excitement is killing us. Big Business blew us away, I really dont think Ive ever seen anyone burn so many calories playing drums...just incredible. These guys just plain rocked. And loud they were. By now my ears were in some serious pain, but there was no way I was going anywhere...the Melvins were coming! After a short break, the musical onslaught began. HOLY SHIT were they LOUD. Literally, we were standing right in front of Dale. Now Ive read about how hard he hits the skins, I found out last night. I was blown away. This was hard rock euphoria. Centered between two incredible drummers and Buzz and Jarod playing at a volume-setting 11, it was heaven. And they played non-stop. I dont think they even paused between songs long enough for us to applaud. I was physically drained just watching these guys. We were quite impressed with the Star Bangled Banner too.
After a long drive home, my wife and I were joking the whole way how niether of our ears have ever been so wrecked. The buzzing, crackling, and muffling made it nearly impossible to understand each other from accross the car.
How good was the show? Let me tell you that this was all we talked about all day today and at dinner tonight. It's a rare opportunity to see such great musicianship so close. Were usually the old couple at the back of the room, never again.
blah.

Congrats on your first Melvins show.......Hopefully you have many more to come.  They never, EVER get old.

Great story- Does your wife have long blondish hair, or short black hair?  I think I was next to you two.  The vibration was incredible~

Wife has short brown hair. We both wear glasses. We weren't sure what the crowd was gonna be like. Really great buch of folks last night. Everyone was very nice. We are involved in a lot of racing events where there are alot of angst-filled testoerone-riddled punk-ass kids and it was great to be around a more "mature" group. Lets just say, this show was great all around.
blah.
