I am on here sifting through the posts regularly, looking for any news updates on my favourite band.... but I am sometimes curious about the persons behind a posts. What is a typical Melvins fan like? What do they do? What age are they? Do they know other Melvins fans where they live (of physical form - on here not included) ? Where do they live? So I thought I'd start a post/questionnaire with the hope that you all could write a little about yourselves and what makes you tick as a No. 1 Melvins fan. Please be honest.. this could be interesting.

How long have you been a Melvins fan: like 4 years, since 2004. For longer if you count when I first got 'Divorced' and 'Night Goat' around 2001.
First Melvins album you heard: Can't remember, first I really liked as The Bootlicker
First Melvins album you owned: Sieg Howdy! vinyl.
Favourite Melvins album: Hostile Ambient Takeover, or the Trilogy if you count that as album (I only have the vinyl and crybaby on CD)
Least Favourite Melvins album: 26 Songs, or maybe some of the noise albums. But just because I haven't listened to them much, I don't think that I necessarily dislike them.
Favourite Melvins Track: Either The Fool, The Meddling Idiot or The Man With the Laughing Hand is Dead
Least Favourite Melvins Track: Either the DCH half of the live version of Set me Straight or In the Rain from Singles
Favourite Melvins track performed live: Black Stooges, maybe, just for the drums in the middle. I do get chills every time I hear the Night Goat intro still, I know thats the standard Melvins fan answer
Least favourite Melvins track performed live: Going Blind maybe? (I've never been a fan of the studio version though)

Also some random singles though , I have some like H.A.T. and the Purge of Dissidents two singles, also the Sawed Off.
Second Favourite band after the Melvins: I dunno, I listen to a lot of shit lately. Maybe Burning Witch right now, or Secret Chiefs 3.

The stuff I dig most from these guys is the weirdness and diversity of their directions. Truly genre-less these guys play whatever they want and that is refreshing especially in todays musically stagnant and uninspirational musical sesspool. Melvins rule!

The show was stellar. I went simply because the Melvins had just broken up and the flyer said "Ted Ed Fred" featuring Dale of the Melvins. He also played in a band that night called "Soon" or "Really Soon" where Dale sang and played drums. The Sub Pop column in the Rocket had reported that the Melvins broke up because Buzz moved to San Francisco.

I reckon you would have without the sticker, it just would have been later. Internet was still taking off at that time and I'm sure YouTube or Facebook didn't exist and MySpace came along so music back then was still wordoff mouth unlike these days. You would have stumbled onto Melvins for sure but it wouldn't be as a cool story.

I always wonder if a band will come across that I get sucked into More than Melvins. Cows came close to me and Patton's better releases but so far,so good.

Certainly, mp3s and more recently, streaming music has cheapened music as a whole there is no doubt. I never did vinyls myself but really missed the feeling you get when you had to travel, save up and put $15 down on a CD, went back and put it on and gave it 100% attention listening to it while looking through the notes as it was playing and hoping you didn't waste your money. Nothing like it and as you put it, a gamble which also meant that if the gamble paid off - the album stuck for years and sometimes life.

These days with streaming and mp3s it's like just a thumbsup or skip, that's the total attachment involved ...pressing a thumb icon. Nothing gained, nothing lost. Christ I sound old. :lol:

But hey I still buy Ipecac, AmpRep etc... records these days but not very many anymore.
