I'm actually pretty for in the minority here, but I've always thought that most if not all of the lyrics in Melvins songs have meaning.  It's just complicated by a few facts:

1) Buzz Osbourne and co, but especially Buzz, like to fuck with people.  He likes to twist the tiny little brains of people who annoy him, which, and I'm a big fan of hte guy, seems to be  most of the people in the world.

2) Buzz Osbourne is a pretty private person for the lead singer/primary songwriter for a band.  He hides the meanings of the songs through a lot of wordplay and symbolism.  I'm also a lead singer/primary songwriter in my band(s) and I know that I've had personal stuff that I wanted to put in a song, but didn't want to just say the words right out because it's private, or would just sound better with the symbolism.  After all, if you're a Melvins fan, you're not exactly into things that are clear, concise, and easy to listen to.  It's ridiculous to think that if we're going to listen (repeatedly) to not-exactly straightforward stuff like "Charmicarmicat," "The Anti-Vermin Seed" or "Goggles" that we're going to run screaming from a little lyrical obscurity,  and say, "No no!  It's just an instrument!  It doesn't have any meaning!"  Afterall, we'll appreciate the the screech, scream and roar, but then get all paranoid when it seems like he might be saying something. 
     If you want instrumental music, listen to instrumental music.  Hell, I'm not a big fan of music without lyrics (then again, I'm a lyricist, it's a bit like a shred guitar specialist listening to songs without solos, or that never get off of Em/Am/G cowboy chords.
     I like heavy, angry, ugly music, with genius-level lyrics, that's why I like the Melvins.

3) Maybe this should be 2b:  There is sort of a Melvins language, maybe just a Buzz Osbourne language.  Let's take the one we can all absolutely agree on the lyrics to, "Hooch."  The lyrics are published and listening to the song, exact.  In addition to emphasizing and pronouncing words in his own ways, he tends to break words in odd places, and make them into other words.  For example:

        "Your make a doll a ray day sender"

Drop "sender," it belongs on the next line, we get:

       "Your make a doll a ray day"

A great nonsense line.  Now, break it like this instead:

     "Your make a dollaray day"

Drop the extra letters used to muddy the waters:

     "You(r) make a dollar(ay) day"

You get the unandorned line:

     "You make a dollar a day."

("Sender" begins the next line, and becomes "Send her." as best as I can tell.  No, I do not have some weird hotline to Buzz's brain, and not sure I'd want one.  No, I have never claimed to know what every Melvins song means, and I'm pretty sure that some of them mean nothing or close to nothing)

4) Some people don't want Buzz to have any emotions or opinions.  The former because they're afraid to see him as anything but a wind up jukebox for our amusement, and the latter because they're afraid they'll disagree with him, or more to the point, the almighty Buzz might disagree with them.  They don't want him to sing songs about BDSM ("Roman Dog Bird" "Boris") war ("Roadbull", "The Hawk" "Revolve" "Let it All Be" "Civilized Worm") left-wing politics ("Captain Pungent" "Revolve" "A Civilized Worm") religion ("Suicide in Progress" "The Bloated Pope", hell pratically the entire "Pigs of the Roman Empire" album and large parts of Bullhead.) doomed love ("Easy as it Was", "With Teeth", "Grinding Process") masturbation ("Koollegged"), mysticism (just about all of the Honky and Bullhead albums, "The Anti-Vermin Seed" "The Fool, The Meddling Idiot") the "scene" ("Foaming"  "Rat Faced Granny" "AMAZON" practically all of the Stoner Witch album, "Billy Fish") or hte difficulty involved with being an artist, especially as one gets older ("Skin Horse" "Rat Faced Granny" "Billy Fish")
    Listen to him scream "You had better damn well tell green from gold" in "The Anti-Vermin Seed," and tell me that he does not express emotion in his music.  The force behind that line is amazing.  Listen to "Manky" and tell me he's not angry.
      Buzz Osbourne is not a human jukebox, where put a coin in his mouth, press his nose, and he plays a song for us.  He's a human being with emotions and opinions.  Nothing to be afraid of here.

5) I have never seen anyone else think that Buzz Osbourne curses in his lyrics.  Just about every time he says "shit" someone writes it out as "sick."  Was it a typo for the first track on Electroretard?  Was it suppose to be "Sickstorm"?
