ANOTHER MELVINS CD TO BE INCLUDED IN MANCHILD 4.

I am pretty excited, because I got the green light for the next musical contents of my next book, MANCHILD 4.

We are going to do another full album length MELVINS cd, this time we will be focusing on two shows to pick from, one of which is from a show in Boston on the band's last u.s. tour that Toshi (Big Business) recorded, and it is pretty smoking. It is very likely you will hear some brutal live versions of "Eye Flys", "Boris" and a handful of new songs from the Buzz/Dale/Jared/Coady lineup of the band.

The real goodie is a show recorded at (of all places) Gilman Street years and years ago with the fabled Buzz/Dale/Lori lineup. This is historically significant due to the fact that it almost chronoligcaly follows the previous "Making Love" demos that were in MANCHILD 3 material wise; more songs that eventually ended up on the record OZMA and (to me at least) were actually better versions, like the versions of "Oven" and "Koolegged". You can almost hear a pin drop between songs, as if the people watching just didn't know what to make of the assault, which was actually par for the course back then.

Put it all together, and you'll have a really neat all live MELVINS cd, and another fine addition to their massive catalog.

Sadly, the idea of having this cd become a split between the MELVINS and DOUBLE NEGATIVE will not happen due to a small assortment of reasons. Maybe next time.

thanks.

Hah. I still can't get over how much of a fogey he comes across as in that blog when he calls this board "Melvins Net".

perusha

Geeez people.  Sensitive are we?

If you read what he wrote...it wasn't that big a deal.  He didn't write anything that wasn't right.  He called us nice and a few are creepy.  Of course.
How about the fact that he has a really cool vehicle to put out some really amazing Melvins discs?  You, reading this right now, do not.  I appreciate Brian for that.
And the fact that Manchild 3 was not that expensive at all?  And a pretty great disc I think.

Whatever...

cara

Huh? I didnt read any replies in this thread that seemed sensitive about it.

Shit...if Brian didn't get himself in so much trouble, we (the folks who put Walsby's books out) probably would have never started working with the guy or known who he was before we even started publishing films/music/books. He's an satirist, a fine artist, a great drummer, and an old fart with bad shoes, great taste in music,  and terrible business sense. The real beauty of it all is that he can never really figure out why folks would get pissed over his "tiny little drawings" and writings. That's reason enough to appreciate this guy. This could be the letter section of Maximumrocknroll in 1987, same shit different band...fuckingarighton.

look if there are new melvins cd's, i'm going to buy them.  it's fantastic that someone is releasing them.  if he makes money off it more power to him.  i don't care.

but i bought that making love cd for the music, not the comic book.  i took one look at that thing and found it so repulsive i threw it away.  that thing is really embarrassing just to look at.  who wants that stuff?  boring stories told in a condescending way by an unlikeable narrator?  bad drawings of black flag?  maybe some people want that stuff but i don't.  sell me the cd separately and keep the comic book for someone who wants it.  it's nothing personal, mr. walsby, but when i buy this new cd, i am sure i'm going to throw the awful comic book away again.
