So we've all read a lot about how the Melvins fans have responded to Down, and a ton more about the Down fans in general...but how have the Down fans been receiving the Melvins?  Has the response been generally positive?  I'm guessing by the non-mentions here that they've not been outwardly hostile toward the band?

yeah, you know how that is.   there are 2 kinds of down fans.  the kind that fears and must destroy everything different than down.  and the kind that claims to like "strange" bands like MELVINS just for the sake of being a little more in-the-know than the doofus next to them at the down show.

my guess is there are more of the later.

oh.. and the later is the kind of guy that stands in line outside a down show and tells a story about this one time they saw MELVINS and they did nothing but play feedback for 45 minutes.  it was "awesome".   but this is kinda like woodstock. if they remember it it never happened.

A high majority of Down fans loved the melvins, as seen on the down forum.

What he said.  I didn't hear or see anything negative towards the Melvins.  The closest I got was one guy who'd never seen them before and said "they were OK, but didn't really do anything for me."

I like Down. Not a huge fan, but I like them. And I can also say that I've seen the Melvins more than you with the utmost certainty. So what does that make me?

I've been enjoying Down lately, and I wouldn't have even checked them out if not for playing with the Melvins.  I didn't even know about them really, until recently.  Phil still has it on a lot of tracks, which I didn't expect.
