Ah a great song from one of my favourite Melvins albums. The Unsane cover isn't half bad either.

I need a road case for my amp heads like that!

I'll just build one.  :D

nice... the bloat is sucha juicy track.

The bloat-
Probably the first time (and last?) that Buzz uses a slide on his guitar for a recording.

I'm glad Mark D played bass on this one.  I think he has been their best bassist and this song exemplifies his style.  It's not a complicated bass line to play.  Any of their bassists could play it.  But Mark does it best.

Lyrics are cool.  What they're about is anybody's guess as usual.

I love when melvins songs seem to end in random places.  This is a good example with Dale hitting the high-hat (or whatever it is) over a few times and you either think it might lead to another part in the song or the less-than-average listener might feel a little uncomfortable with it and question why that part was left in the song as if they forgot to hit the stop button during recording.  There are no accidents with the melvins.  But then it ends somewhat randomly.

There's my 2 cents...

Is Ian back yet??

who's got a decent photo of Dales home made Bike-spoke thingy? HD I think that's what you want to look into!

and he's got the "ICE Bell"  I should have stolen the one from my highschool music dept. when I had the chance to.

also, anyone know what that Buzzing sound is on the drums at the end of Bullhead? the cymbal sounds like it's vibrating and making a weird Pang' attack with a longer Buzzy sounding decay on a couple of hits only, pretty cool and I can't seem to put my finger on it.

sounds like two cymbals on top of one another, but probly wrong on all counts hee..

what you're hearing at the end of the bloat is a ribbon crasher.
i used to have one but i gave it up to a certain special drummer who we are all fond of.

as for the cymbal effects throughout bullhead i have no idea... its either some weird purcussion creation made by pete englehart or its a studio effect.
check out some of the stuff he has made... http://www.peteengelhart.com/pages/instruments.html

I know coady and dale use some of his metal percussion stuff.

Again,a gorgeous tragedy approaches,in the wake of those thought contained. But sonic reverberations shake the very marrow of the fragile chamber of mans lifeforce, and again the minions quiver in fear,as daylight fails to come, and Melvins walk the battlefield, bored and hungry...

I gave it to Buzz when he was on stage setting up before the show, thinking that would be my only chance. I just told him I had brought it for dale. Buzz was very enthusiastic and thankful.
I saw Dale right after when I went out for a cigarette I kind of stopped him as he was walking and told him there is a ribbon crasher waiting for him with Buzz. He looked confused and weirded out by me but surprised at the same time and said something like "oh, really? cool." and kept walking. I can't blame him, I kind of interrupted him I guess. either that or he really wanted to get to the ribbon crasher.

who wrote that bass line though?  :-"

Mark D's Fender JAZZ bass.

-on a side note, Kevin had the coolest bass of the whole lot.
