GrimReaper

Been listening to this on my commute this week and I love this album!

Victory of the Pyramids is stuck in my head right now. Like the extended playing time of these songs.

I don't think there is an example of Buzz singing in a higher octave than VOTP, prove me wrong.

It's probably my favourite of the 1983 releases. The less joke tracks on a Melvins album = the better it is.

GrimReaper

Agreed ///////.

VOTP is like three different songs, it's like a Lysol type opus.

Short Hair Wig extends into Melvins goodness too. I very happy with this. I bought a copy for Bad Ronald.

Thunderball LP Liner notes:

"A little history...And some opinions

Mike Dillard is the original drummer for the Melvins, We've been friends since highschool. We Met in Montesano, a small town on the coast of Washington state. We had moved there from an even smaller town. I hated everything about it. I hated the people, hated the teachers, hated the cops, hated the weather, hated how isolated it was. It was like living on the dark side of the moon. I knew no one and had no friends at all which was fine by me.

If I had a chance to do it over I'd quit highschool as soon as I could. Highschool was a complete waste of time. I'll never understand why so much importance is placed on a highschool education. If It's so important they ought to immediately replace 99% of the zombie morons teaching. In my experience the bored bitter excuses for educators did far more harm than good. According to the horse shit mythology perpetuated by our educational system, after 12 years of mind numbing goverment education you graduate an unemployed moron. It's only after you get away from government mandated schools and invest a fortune in some type of "higher learning" that you acquire real job skills. What?!? Shouldn't we be trying to teach something useful in the first 12 years you're in school? Even with a college degree it's unlikely that you'll get the job you were "Trained" For and you'll be saddled with an incredible amount of debt that you'll spend years of your life paying off. What a Load of Bullshit.

I had Zero interest in wasting more time in school after highschool, neither did Dillard. We bonded first over music and second over an intense love of getting completely obliterated as often as possible. Anything was better than facing the dull reality of living in that shitty little town with all those shitty small minded people.

Dillard was a year behind me but that didn't bother us. My own classmates proved themselves the enemy so finding someone I could relate to was just great. Mike was immediately impressed with all the weird music I was into. Up to that point I hadn't met anyone with any interest in any of my musical discoveries. It was an amazing time in the history of music and literally no one was interested. We were surrounded by mediocrity, stupidity, prejudice, and dangerous rednecks. We learned to play music together. We grew up together and have remained friends all these years.

Thunderball is the third Melvins 1983 record we have made together. I wanted this one to be bombastic. I think it is. I'm already planning a fourth one that will be even more uncomromising. A real shit show."
