Yep, lots of them in Jersey. Staten Island too. And, in thinner numbers they are spread throughout the five boroughs of NYC, usually wherever there is an Italian population, you'll get some of these guys. Definitely a good idea to steer clear.

See, you've always got to look on the bright side. Hipsters don't seem so bad now, and if they're real hipsters, in a year or two they'll have moved on to the next obscure band and forgotten all about the Melvins.

i think they've been getting popular.  i've seen way more hipsters the past 2 Melvins shows i been to.  i got some mean looks the last show i was at.  i think some old school Melvins fans thought i was a hipster.  bitch i've been listening to the Melvins for 14 years now, shut the fuck up, haha.  and no i don't wear tight pants or comb my hair to the side.

on the bright side Melvins shows aren't a sausage party anymore.  i can definitely dig that.

even if the new surge in popularity is just a trendy thing for a percentage of the people, it's more than likely that a good amount will walk away as genuine fans, so it's win win all around. they can't be our precious little commodity forever. the photo hungry scene douches will walk away eventually, but at least the band will have gotten their money in some fashion....

I've never met anyone that identifies as a hipster.  In fact, it seems that the term 'hipster' picks out very different groups of people depending on who utters it, and has no content to it other than as a pejorative jibe, kind of like how most folks throw around terms like "communist" and "fascist" these days.

The whole anti-"hipster" thing really just seems like a tired old "us vs. them" game so common in music scenes, but where the "them" isn't clearly defined and being one of the "us" does nothing but help us feel better and more secure in our fandom.

I'd rather hang out with cool folks than assholes, even if the cool dude has a swoop hair cut and worships Pitchfork and the asshole has the most bad ass Melvins collection in the world.

I don't judge people by their tight pants and whatnot, all that annoys me is when people act like for example said guys in the pics. If they do anything but pay attention to the Melvins then of course it would piss me off.. But at least they paid for the tickets, so if they feel like posing for the camera all the time then so be it; I can't tell them to leave. It's just that I'd rather like to see people that are actually interested in the music, people who come to shows because they heard of the Melvins and actually want to see them, and then maybe want more after the show.
