Unfortunately, I don't have that one.

Only the dark blue/yellow set is available from Hydrahead now.
Still wondering if  'Set 1' was the box set or if another label/retailer is going to have another variation.

the CD probably sounds nicer, though. I dont imagine many people drop all that cash on a colored, etched 4LP just so they can hear ASA - those babies are purely for admiring and collecting IMO.

Seriously? Vinyl sounds WAY better than CD. (Mostly on account of the fact that most people's LP systems are better than their CD players, and so the debate goes around and around.)

Anyway, in the age of mp3s, I see no need and feel no desire to buy CDs. The vinyl release becomes the record release event for me, and my vinyl gets played. Moreover, I've noticed that most Melvins albums sound much fuller on vinyl. YMMV.

I just think that somebody that wants to listen to ASA would be silly to buy a collectors piece of vinyl such as this soley to hear the album. There are benefits of the sound of CDs over vinyl, just like there is the other way 'round. But you're still more or less preaching to the choir - i stopped purchasing CDs long ago.

Also, maybe the mysterious other version of this vinyl will only be sold at shows or something?

some of the most beautiful vinyl i've ever seen. I dont know how any Melvins/vinyl fan could say no.

Because of lack of money for example..  But I'm still a devoted CD collector, no matter what happens.  I think sooner or later I'll get me some more vinyl as well.

i will say that the SQ on this vinyl release is top notch.  the 45rpm really helps with the "crunch"  of those heavier notes.

stated by Hydra Head (as seen on themelvins.net):
"This thing is as thick as a book and limited to a one time pressing of 3,000 with over 5 sets of colors in varying numbers of each within that 3,000 pressing, most limited is 100, most available is 1000."

so, there are at least 5 "sets" and they have made sure to list these as "sets" on the sales sight.  this would indicate that the box set is one, the 3 listed sets make the count four, and there is one (i presume the limited run of 100) that is unaccounted for.  of course, it could just be coincidental they used the word "sets" and they only meant colors - there would be 7 different colors and that would prbly make the transparent blue the run of 100.

i never could get those at Hydra Head to release the pressing numbers of the BB Waterworks vinyl, so i doubt they will for this release either...which i find a bit...well, for lack for a better word, childish.  what does it hurt to give out the numbers?  as a collector i would like to know for my own notes.  oh well...

I have a feeling the fifth set will be sold on tour.  I'm curious about the vinyl colourway for that.

that's what i've been saying, at least i ain't the only one thinking this

Uncle Fester

on ebay a fellow is selling the blue ones and.... he is probably not a reliable source... he states that the blues were limited to 700... wich is odd... considering they sold out in hours.. is it possible to sell 700 copies of the blue in two hours?

anaconda

buzz may have got a few hundred to sell on tour
