I just hope we get another super heavy melvins album in the not too distant future. Been a decade since Maggot.  :P

My opinion, The Maggot was their heaviest, most beautiful album and is my favorite from their oeuvre.  I listen to that album faithfully and I would love to hear what the new line up can create in comparison.  The last 2 albums are great, FAR better than anything anyone else put out there, but they're not what really make me love The Melvins.

(A)SA was only two years ago.  That one wasn't heavy enough for you?

Cause I have a hard time NOT throwing myself around the room listening to that album.  Pure Rock ENERGY!!!

It wasn't "Heavy", ASA just rocked.

What I meant by super heavy was something  like a big doom Lysol/Maggot mammoth album. But hey, whatever they do - I'm probably going to end up buying it, hating it for the first week then loving it.

I don't think he doesn't like them... i think they moight have forgot how to play some of the songs because its been so long since they recorded them

with a discography that big how could you not forget some stuff?

Mad Arab

He wrote the songs. They toured relentlessly playing them songs. But I am sure they are rusty if they haven't played them in awhile.

I cant say Im surprised that most of the comments in this thread are written by people who take the topic way too seriously. why are you guys so offended?
I think theres bands out there just as crazy as the melvins who I love listening to.... I dont think its sucha terrible thing to not be into the melvins for a brief moment.... yeah if you listen to bullhead 25 times straight its going to get boring. it doesnt mean I hate the melvins if I get bored of listening to all their stuff...I just go to a various bunch of different bands and listen to them... Im going to always love the melvins but I know I need a break once in a while to broaden my musical horizon. thats what the melvins are about...opening up and excersizing musical muscle and being courageous enough to try something new.

Mad Arab

No one is suggesting that you can't get bored with the Melvins. I haven't listened to them for a little while. The last song I listened to was Joan of Arc. Currently I have been listening to a much better band: Wolfmother. They rock.

Oh god, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!

Ozma and GPT are nowhere near as complicated as people make out. You just write a few riffs in a row and then find an awesome drummer who can exactly follow them.

pinkyslim

Wolfmother is tired rehash lame gay homo rock.

Be a real man and listen to CROM from Los Angeles.
They will make your little dick grow to 3".

[-X  Wolfmother.

CROM

we're dealing with serious business here!

actually i think people are offended because their favorite band is being put down. Not in a terrible way of course, but people are touchy about their favorite music and take any put downs personally. It was to be expected in this topic.

When Buzz describes Ozma's songs as math problems, that indicates that there is some technicality to that album and GPT as well since it is in the same vein. Much more than say Stoner Witch, ASA, Houdini and NWB.
