What/Where/When was your first Melvins show?

I'm a late bloomer. Trees, Dallas, June 2002. Hostile Ambient Takeover tour. Buzz, Dale and KEVIN were in top form. I bought a t-shirt. My only melvins t-shirt. I'm ashamed to admit it's also the only time (so far) I've seen the melvins.

I wonder what my reaction to them would have been had I listened to Houdini when it first came out and I first read about it? Back then, when I was 13, I only listened to thrash/speed metal and Iron Maiden. I wonder if I would have been open minded enough to like it?

I was 17 when Houdini came out & it was my first real exposure to the Melvins. i had heard them before then. but, when i saw the video for Honey Bucket on Headbangers Ball, i was hooked. i was also mostly into thrash & death metal at the time. i did listen to some other kinds of music on a limited basis though. so, that might have helped.

When Houdini was released I knew a slew of people that were saying the Melvins sold out.

i was pretty late to the game. saw them in the summer of 2003 as part of the geek tour with tomahawk and kaada. the melvins easily left the biggest impression that night, didnt quite know what to expect, but whatever it was, it was so much more. the rest if history, ive seen them at least 10x after that

2005 Halloween at GAMH with jello...the melvins didn't actually even play their own set so I was kind of teased...went and saw them a week later in Sac. at the Library and slept in my car that night on my way to Tahoe..that was a beautiful, wonderful night..there are pictures of the GAMH show somewhere and the back of my head is in one of them 

i was at both of those shows too

i started listening to the melvins my senior year of high school - 2002. later, a bunch of my friends went to the geek show tour, and i had a new girlfriend at the time and vouched to do something or another with her instead. my first show was the GAMH for the 20th anniversary tour in 2004. im proud to say that i caught a couple of shows with kevin, and have probably seen them 1o-15 times since.

my first time was the same geek tour but in 2002. edit: fantomas/melvins/tomahawk
apart from the likes of mr bungle, i wasnt into any bands post say early 80's stuff, dad brought me up well (well, i went through a stage of loving chilli peppers and faith no more in high school). was heavily into electronic and hip hop from early-mid teens onwards. went to the show cause i was told that fantomas were the new bungle. was blown away by the melvins before they even played a note, the presence of them as they walked out was enough for me.
dale had his kit to the side (90degrees off) down stage, stage right. so you could see everything he was doing. kev hypnotised me with that little dance, and the noise he was getin from his bass inspired to buy one myself a few weeks later. changed my perspective of music overnight. good job. and look at me now... i'm flying...um

ive seen them 7 times. thats not bad. unfortunately only once with kev. 4 different countries. im 5fo0t 12.

nice thread!my first time was in 2000 in Milan.was the tour with DSS on second guitar,remember i had a boner when Buzzo introduced Hung Bunny- Roman Dog Bird saying something like  "sit down,this song is 20 minutes long" .still have the ticket in my wallet

I went with my friend on mushrooms and was there for MELVINS!
The crowd treated Buzz like shit and kept screaming, "get off the stage old man".
Boris was a masterpiece.

Strangely, I don't even remember.  Early 90's?  Almost saw them somewhere in Pomona, but ended up seeing them at the Whiskey..maybe the Troubadour?
