I hope that this can put an end to the "why don't Melvins play my city" whining.

I saw them in Indy with Jello. It was packed but there were a lot of metal heads in the show. Buzz said on stage that he loved Indianapolis.

I don't see how he could.

if a rock star says he loves a city/state/country on stage... he means it!
i say i can't, but i really mean i won't.

Have you been to Indianapolis? I have only been there to see the show and where they played seemed like a cool part of the city.

Me either. Having lived in Indianapolis for 25 years, I can tell you honestly it is a very shitty place to live, especiall if you don't give a fuck about sports or racing.

My parents and most of my relatives are from Anderson (I was born there, but moved to Michigan when I was 1).  We spent a lot of time there in the summers and I've been to Indy countless times.  I do remember the Children's Museum was one of my all time favorite places when I was a kid.

Buffalo/Rochester and the whole WNY area can be a bitch sometimes for shows, often times bands bypass this area when going from NYC to Toronto. It's definitely gotten better recently, due to more clubs and better promoters. Before the 2006 tour, it was 1995 when they played here last!
Since '06 it's been decent though. Buffalo/Rochester got back to back nights in '08/'09. Last year closest was Cleveland, well worth the drive. 6 hrs round trip is about all I'd drive to see any band. I like driving home after the gig, and sleeping in my own bed.

I get why they don't play here all the time and why the smaller tours only hit the "big" cities. When it's a small run and they're gonna play x amount of shows, the places that cough up the cash get the band.
Most of the shows I attended back in the day were in NYC. I didn't mind driving down from Syracuse. One of the first Melvins shows I ever went to, gas was $1.50 a gallon and tickets were $10, way back in 1999.  But now with higher gas prices, tickets prices climbing... it's just getting too expensive.  factor in parking, food, merch and all the rest, I'm spending a few hundred bucks in one night. All of those upstate shows had great turnouts (minus that show in albany) so there is no reason why they shouldn't come back. And they should.

Money spent on first melvins experience :

Gas $3 for 30 mile trip to Nashville and back.
ticket? No ticket, 6 bucks cover charge.
Flyer for show? Five finger discount.
overall experience? Priceless!
