Holy Barbarians is easily one of the best songs on the album.  Is that Dale singing on it?  anyways, i love the LOUD bass on that track
Think so.

This album has convinced me that even when the band get real old they will at least still be able to put out new music without all the hard hitting and yet still have them hit hard.

Loving this new album!  They never disappoint!  Now just waiting for the live show. :P

Quoted for truth.

Buzzo is singing HOLY BARBARIANS.   and that makes it no less of a thing of beauty.

this album gets better by the listen.  how do MELVINS do that?

BTW:  welcome tracyj!

I could swear it's Dale.

Im really confused by almost all the vocals on this one with regular thoughts of "who the hell it that?".

The fact they've relereased this and the Bulls & the Bees in the same year is pretty incredible. Melvins band best band.

"Let Me Roll it" might be the closest-sounding cover song they've done yet!

Am I the only one who STILL does not have his preorder?? It's been 8 fucking days and nothing! Why did I pay $4 for shipping if it is taking this long?? I may just call Newbury and ask them to refund my money in a couple days. Signed booklet or not this is pissing me off!! Sorry for the rant

I had mine shipped to my parents house in Augusta GA and they said they don't have anything for me yet.

Nevermind. I just checked my mail again today and it was there!! Apparently the mailman was a couple hours late due to it raining like hell down here. Will be listening to many times tonight :) :)

While they aren't worlds apart by any means, the Melvins definitely did tweak this song in a few odd ways. I was teaching myself the Wings version of "Let Me Roll It" before I even heard the Melvins lite version (otherwise I probably wouldn't have even noticed). So basically the verse of the song alternates between a F#m and an E. Strangely enough, while McCartney starts the vocals on the E chord, Buzz starts the exact same vocals in on the F#m. Somehow it completely works and is hardly noticeable though.

Also, he cuts off the fourth iteration of the chorus....possibly because McCartney goes higher in the vocal range on that part, and it is a little more challenging to sing? Other than that just a busier guitar part in the Melvins lite version where Buzz is kind of mimicking the bass line of the Wings version. Once again though, it totally works and is totally Melvins.

You know as a general rule, I am not a fan of covers. Well Mark Lanegan put out an absolutely brilliant covers album, but aside from that one fluke, I am not a huge fan of the idea.
Well, if there are two exceptions to this rule of mine, the Melvins are it. I can honestly say that I find all of their cover songs to be, at the very least, interesting.

this album is awesome. it sounds like a different band. the highlights for me are tracks 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10.
