Security got really heavy handed with a crowd surfer. Gave the kid a couple of digs and a headbutt. Next bit I don't know what happened. Couple of minutes later the security started to mass up then steamed into the middle to pull the dude out. He didn't go quietly. I think a couple of the staff got punched by the dudes friends. That got them frenzied. Acted like fucking savages. My sons girlfriend got hit in head by one of them. Then they just went in hard on anyone who challenged them over their heavy handedness. It ruined an awesome set.

They didn't get him, they got my mate instead. The guy who instigated it all was totally out of control, and was looking for confrontation with anyone as soon as he entered the crowd. What really irks me is that as soon as one of them acts like a thug (as was the case last night) all of them follow suit, and any notion of doing what they are supposed to do and defuse any situation is ignored in favour of indulging in bullying and thuggery. I've worked in venues for all my adult life, and that is with out doubt the worst crow control (sic) i have ever witnessed.

I will ask that if anyone who knows of any footage of what happened could please send it to me. My friend has been offered a refund for his ticket,a nd were going to be making further complaints to the security company today.

I was right next to him. I saw your mate describe what had happened to the crowd surfer earlier* (your mate lifted his fist and made punching movements) - the moment he did that, around four bouncers piled in and dragged him out, knocking everyone in their way for six. Totally uncalled for.

*disclaimer:  at least that's how I saw it.

Awesome, awesome show though. Melvins are always on fire in London. The fisticuffs added to the madness.

I've made a complaint to the venue. Never seen that level of unprofessionalism from a security firm in the 35 years I've been going to gigs.
Goes whenever they are here

Hi everybody! I just joined to say that I had such an awesome time last night! They rocked!!!!! :D :D :D Yeah that bouncer seemed out of control - tweeted the venue. But none of that or the guy calling out that Buzz shushed could ruin in for me. I loved it and loved seeing how much everyone else was into it!

hogleg

Holy shit the bouncer headbutted that guy?!!! Fucking psycho!!

Ducksopinion

Headbutting is a bit next level, eh? for a 'professional', thats way uncalled for no matter the situation.

I was at the front slightly to the right all night,  so I saw that guy getting nutted from a distance, wouldn't have believed it if he didn't get punched to the ground afterwards., totally unnecessary  I think the song before that maybe, there was another guy floating over the top, so i turned round to help push a leg or whatever, but before he got to the front that same bouncer jumped up and punched him to the floor as well!! You've gotta wonder what that felt like if half a dozen people drop you because of it, kinda ruined the mood  :?

Other than that fantastic sets both nights, never really listened too intently to the drums on Bullhead and Lysol before, or just not listened to them enough, think I might REALLY start to love those albums now  :D Enjoyed Lividity a lot too. There's definitely a reason so many people catch them 3 times every tour they come round hehe

BuffaloSmashFace

Thankfully there was a silver lining in all this, as we found a sympathetic voice from none other than Thurston Moore outside the Electric after we went to meet my mate after he had been kicked out. :D

Just watched a documentary about bouncers in Bristol. Looking forward to tomorrow even more now  :D

Incredible set again last night from Melvins although it was soured by Electric Brixton's security causing large scale chaos and violence. I'd have to say that the Bullhead/Stoner Witch show was trumps for me......I totally thought it'd be the other way around.

Back to security's behaviour though.......I was right in the middle about 6 or 7 meters back from the front so I got a pretty good view of the unadulterated primitive violence carried out by the Electric Brixton security......It looked to me that it really started to get ugly with the young guy who was hoisted up by friends (from what I saw) and found himself crowd surfing and having a ball doing so when all of a sudden his fun came to an abrupt end when he neared the barricade and was pounded AND head butted by a security staff member who was about 260 pounds of pure angry muscle. This young kid must've been about half the size and did nothing to deserve that insane assault imo.
From there it got a lot worse.....security were basically acting like hyenas hunting in packs and rushing the crowd in waves and causing brawls.....people who were getting assaulted by these goons found other members of the crowd (pals?) fighting back on their behalf.....it was pretty surreal and strange stuff??
A young lady punched one security guy in the chops right in front of me during one of their attacks and I was glad to see he didn't retaliate.....I did hear later of woman getting assaulted by these goons though during the violent process of "crowd control".
On top of that shameless behaviour I found it really sad that security took the drum stick of some dude that was given to him.

All of this mindless and insane violence was sound tracked by a barrage of drums and massive amounts of guitar and bass feedback which kind of fitted it perfectly funnily enough. But yeah security were far more brutal than the Melvins live show last night.....and I think that's saying something!

Two thumbs up Melvins
Two thumbs down to Electric Brixton's security staff.

Oh yeah and that Ginger Baker documentary was totally awesome!!! hahaha

So I take it it was your mate that was pounded and head butted when he neared the barricade after his surf??? If that carry on happened on the street that staff member would be facing a probable prison sentence. If they don't want crowd surfing then I suggest they have signs like Brixton Academy......

No signs like the above @ Electric Brixton so they really have NO excuse for their actions. Professional staff would've caught the young guy and safely put him on the ground in front of the barricade and escorted him back into the crowd. Those security guys simply hated the music, the band and the crowd.......the crowd were obviously the easiest thing to take their hate out on.

Loved it that Dale and Coady extended the finish of Roadbull because the crowd singing was so awesome....
