For some Reason, when I hear Tie my pecker To a tree I think of DC.
So Do the Melvins. And the local Sheriff. And his Parole Officer......

i can't listen to it

so my question is

I really Enjoy that album and have the 1983 10" from Haze but wouldn't it be cool to have the whole album???

This fucking album. I love it. I listenned to it last night on a long metro ride home and loved it. There are some fucking gems on this bad boy.

drumfreak:)

Well, after listening to it some more times I think it´s...well not that good that I thought it was after one listen.
It just....I don´t know....it just isn´t as good as Freak Puke for example. It´s mostly midtempo classicrockish stuff that doesn´t get me into the album as much as it should. I don´t say that the whole album is bad but it´s definetly not one of their best works and it could have been a lot better in my opinion.
And there´s something else that´s bugging me for quite some time. Why do every Melvins album from the BB era on sound basically the same? I really loved the double drumming sound from senile animal etc but I don´t get it why Dale has just transferred the sound to albums where he´s playing alone? I really love HAT and Bullhead for example because of their completely different sounding drums but since a senile animal they sound the same which is a real pity.. It´s the same with the guitar sound but only since everybody loves sausages. I mean I really love the cutting sound of EGC guitars but since they are on every single record after nude with boots, the sound is getting...old?
Has two bands with ridicolous names.

drumfreak:)

Yeah!
I like City dump and Doctor mule but theother tracks are...strange. Some of them sound like that they just HAD to be on it, no matter what eventually would come out.
Freak Puke is a great album in my opinion. And, in comparision to tres cabrones, really drags the listener into the songs.
I really hope, like you, that they will make something that I can love again. I have to admit that I really like Hold it in, though

(the) Razor

I get what you both mean. I found hold it in to be different though. Dale is not the same anymore but there were glimpses of his old self with in Barcelona horseshoe pit. I think for the Melvin's to survive 30 years they have to change drumming style and guitar sound. Plus they are pushing 50 and don't have that teenage youth aggression that was so prevalent in their early 1983 career which they tried to emulate with tree cabrones
Don't click this

anaconda

I think for Tres they said lets act and write like 18 year olds again. There's some goofy songs,
minimals leads, simple drumming and mostly basic riffs. If you listen to it with that concept in mind
it's a blast! and it's accurate for a 1983 basement band
