Nice to see they made it on there... I guess. Love the jaded bullshit comments from the jaded bullshit magazine though!

I need to revisit this album post-haste. Most of it kills.

Chief Ten Beers

Will be passing on the vinyl of this one.

(someone posted today on the EA forum)
"Got Hold It In on LP today. $15. It's weird. A lot to sink into. It's got a download for the whole album. The LP itself is missing Eyes On You and Room Full Of Gasoline even though the jacket lists them. You have to hear those on the $40 Bride of Crankenstein tour only 10"."

Lame :?. It still annoys me that they left the best song off of the Freak Puke vinyl, which easily could have fit.

Captain Howdy

Guess I'll pass too, that is pretty lame. Glad I got the CD now.

Yeah. Agreed.
Same with the Crybaby, although it all wouldn't fit anyway but the songs are listed. It's okay in my book though because the Trilogy on vinyl is beautiful and it was about $10 more than the three song Bride Of Crankenstiein 10".

Anyone in the UK wants an inexpensive Hold It In LP, there are some here, £10.20 each with free shipping. That's a pretty good price. (They're £18.99 in my local shop.)

The whole thing comes down to Marketing.

Its not LAME, Its MARKETING! if you ask me.  8)

working smart.

These guys are Simply trying to cash in on their own Market, which is mainly high-priced Limited releases that sell like anything else that is Melvins Vinyl and out of print in the 80-100 Dollar Ebay Range.

So why not make stuff Limited and Hand-made, They Just want a slice of their own pie for a change.

Everyone else is making bucks flipping their shit...they need a cut of their own Excitement too, at least they seem to be trying out different ways to prevent pirating, Flipping and shit talking thieves.

The first assumption is that a fool and his money are soon parted.

the second is that these guys gotta make a decent living, you know.

Nothing personal...just business as usual.

these guys were smart to split Tracks on their vinyls and make more money for what it was worth.

If the Bride Ten inch is Limited and more expensive, and the Album is Cheap and missing the tracks from the 10 Inch then things Balance out I would say.

The original pressing of Faith No More's The Real Thing had Edge of the World missing on the LP. To get that on vinyl you had to get From Out of Nowhere. Anthrax's Black Lodge was also missing on the Sound of White Noise LP. This is how it always was back in the day. Shit doesn't always fit. You make a good point, but you are incorrect. Buzzo likes AmRep. He does that stuff for the art. If a dickhead has to pay a ridiculous price from a flipper and can't see that someone is cashing in on what's hot at the moment, that's their problem. The only point you made that alluded to something was marketing. That's why the supermarket puts lollies at the register. It's called impulse. Most collectors are prone to this. Collectors only make up about 10% of the market. And that's why AmRep stuff is so limited. Not many dickheads want everything.
I heard their periods attract bears

You're right, it IS genius marketing - the whole uber-limited stuff on AmRep. It makes up for the lost revenue of casual leeching fans who don't buy anything, and just download what they want for free.
I'm into collecting, just would never pay $40 for say a Bride picture disc single with a b-side that's on the CD. I just have to laugh at the people who buy this stuff. You're not really getting bang for your buck, but are able to say "I have this rare piece of art that contains some music" basically.

I think you are undervaluing the art and overestimating the leeching fans.

And why? Why anything? Why buy a teddy bear that says "TY" on the tag when you can get one for a few bucks from the convenience store, if all you want is a teddy bear? Why buy new Levi's when you could get jeans from goodwill, if all you want is a pair of jeans? Why buy a Cadillac instead of a Kia, if all you want is a car? If what you get out of music is utilitarian that's fine for you. Some people want more. Why? Why not?
