The Houdini version and the single version are the same exact studio tracks, only difference is they took out the bass and recorded it on Houdini and did a different mix of the final song. I personally prefer Joe's tone and the overall darker sounding mix of the 45 version. I think the Melvins did too, that's why the 45 version is on the Neither Here Nor There CD.

I like it better too, and I think they play it more like that style then the version on Houdini. I loved it when they played it back in '03 and I think '04 with Kevin and that noise intro with the siren thing.

Interesting - never knew that it was just the bass track that was different.

I was in denial until i put both records on and played them in sync. They totally matched up.

I was in denial too. The single has a longer bass intro, then an extra section before the vocals start.

Its much grimier bass, sounds like they recorded in Detroit where John spencer BLues Explosion did their sessions.
