I got the Loser edition and I'm really happy with the quality.  O:)

Fuzzo

Love the new album, instantly my favourite above Hold It In and Tres Cabrones. Probably better than Freak Puke, but a difficult comparison because they deliver differently (to me). Very much looking forward to Basses Loaded, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out!

This new album is neat. I can totally imagine getting this in 99 with the Trilogy and loving it to bits.

(the) Razor

Listened to it for the first time.

Man it sounds very much like a hepa-titus album featuring Dale, Buzz and Mike than any Melvins I've ever heard before! It's a very different direction. I like it. Perhaps would've been stronger as an EP, just happy it came out though.

This is Melvins excactly how I like them, almost like discovering them again!

This album is phenomenal. Lost album from 99? With rutmanis? Cmon!
Well, we'll always have "In the Air Tonight." Will that be your most enduring song?
You know, that song won't lie down. It just won't go away. I mean, there's a Mike Tyson moment associated with it now. It's just bizarre. I guess it has a bit of mystery, a lot of atmosphere, and the drums coming in, pinning people to the wall.

Godflesh

Got mine too! The Loser edition packaging is beautiful :)

My brain has been pretty preoccupied lately and I never got in on the preorder.  Stopped in my favorite record store after work today and they had the Loser version for $17.  Someone/thing is watching out for me....

The Loser edition is really gorgeous, so nice that Sub Pop rolled out the red carpet (and can afford to do so these days). Beautifully executed package.

I walked by the Sub Pop store at SeaTac airport this morning on my way to my flight and saw that they had at least a couple copies there. I'll be back there on Thursday when I get home, if you want me to pick you up a copy and ship it to you PM me.

a lot of these tracks sound like they could have been HAT B-sides.

love the repurposed HAT song (or I guess it was repurposed from this for HAT since this was recorded 1st)

Do you mean Dawn of the Locusts or are you talking about another song?

Ummm yeah, Dawn ... I read Buzz say they repurped a song from these sessions for the Jelvins ... tho I remember him sayin' it was Wholly Buy Bull (makes sense tis pretty bassy) ... then I hear Bummer Conversation an' it rings a bell ... but not sure which ... thought it was a HATer .. nope ... sounds considerably different than Dawn tho ... cool to hear how they twist and turn it into something else
It was a big night out on the town for the Id and the Reptile Brain ...

like a brick wall, like a dream waiting to be!

Bengerman

I thought it was a HAT song at first too. It sounds a little like the verse bass line in Brain Center... But then I realized its more similar to Dawn of the Locusts.
I'm noticing a lot more of that lately with the Melvins. There will be a little part here and there that sounds like one of their older songs. It seemed to start with History of Bad Men being a revamped and expanded Night Goat for the 2000's. It's not necessarily a bad thing though. I mean if ur gonna rip somebody off it may as well be the best band ever and also helps if it's your own songs your borrowing from.
