Some of them were already there, but I added Influence of Atmosphere, Heater Moves And Eyes and
Echo Head/Don't Piece Me for starters.

Have you seen the bridge?  I ain't seen the bridge!  Where's that confounded bridge?!

Anyone covered the song before? Anyone wanna help me break down the tab better. Christ the shit is hard.

I learned Oven, but Anaconda is like caluculus to Oven's math rock.

Edit: Of course, this is assuming the tab is correct. Any help for a brotha?

Well as it turns out, the tab is sorta helpful, but also missing a part. Maybe I should edit it.

It's all about timing. I don't know how buzzo and dale made that song. shit be hard.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the timing. Its more or less idiosyncratic rhythm, coming from your inner melvinite. This happened to me on occasion when playing Easy As It Was and Heater Moves And Eyes on both guitar and drums. I could never figure out or write down the timing, but I could just feel it when playing.

Also, if the odd sounding chord used through the song is throwing you off, its just an F# with it's minor third (A), rather than it's perfect fifth.

Nah the chords ain't no trouble, I'm playing more or less power chords, and doing it on bass.

Thanks for the help though, I'm sure me and my drummer banging it out for an hour will see it down good.  I'm better at reading tabs, but he can feel songs out right good.

What the hell are you complaining about? I suck at bass and nail this one down easily. The drums on the other hand, that's a complete different story. Good luck to your drummer :)

He's pretty good. He's got that syncopated groove that Dale or Brann Dailor or Cody pulls off.

It sucks, because it's hard to write consistent music when he's halfway between groove and solo, but he's damn good.

It must be nice to be able to jam with someone who can play.

Are you guys just jamming for fun or with the idea to form a band/write music, etc.?

turnacus

We're kinda like the ex girlfriend that you still sometimes fuck.

Back in high school we were a relatively serious band, in that we practiced at certain times after school and had a set of songs. We played a handful of shows, at a high school function, some church function, some girls house at the beach, house shows when our parents split town. We kept playing through like, college as we all went to the same school. (The same school that Gwar and Lamb of God went to, so it has a healthy history of rock)

Then it became a pain to find a place to play.

Now, 5 years later, my friend moved into a place with a studio and instruments so we can rock on.

We took our name after a Melvins album (Colossus of Destiny). Hey, if they took inspiration from a book they liked, we'll take it from a band. We also had a song with a horn and slide bass like the cows.

Shit is tight, I'm pumped as shit to be playing again. Of course, it revisits all the old feuds of having a band, but whatever.

Cool, that's exactly how I play it.  I checked out the version on the wiki and it's quite similar to what I play.

On a related note, I once showed my guitar teacher Bullhead. When Anaconda started he tried really hard to 'get' the beat, and counted, but he couldn't do it.  Instead of listening to the song he was going crazy because of the strange beat.  That was pretty hilarious..   Gotta love the odd timing.

Dale is a fucking genius to come up with such awesome drums for this song but I think it's not super hard to play. Only part I can't play correctly is on 1:07 and 1:35 when dale goes nuts on the toms and manages to keep rhythm on the ride.

It's one of my favorite songs to play on drums.
Why say no to drugs when you can say yes?

Andy Wood

That's what I love about Dale. He seldom plays linear fils, instead completely contorting any syncopation by leaving some notes right out.

I guess it's really the notes he isn't playing that make him great.

The funny thing is, him and Coady both play that syncopated style, yet when they play together, it's not as syncopated.
