the bloat

People come to hear the classics! I couldn't have been more thrilled when they opened with Oven when I saw them in Spokane this year. I think they do a good job of balancing old with the new, although the last set I saw was heavy on the Bullhead, Lysol and Stoner Witch era.

Maybe they're not playing all the new shit because they just got out of the studio and are tired of playing it OR they think their fans won't give a shit about the new stuff

this is why the tours where they played a buttload of new stuff remain my favorites. Stag, The Maggot, (A)SA/ Nude With Boots, Freak Puke.

God it's amazing how that quietly slipped away. I never even noticed that they used to do that. They should definitely do it again!! Provided a new album they were promoting was good of course! It's funny because for a while Buzz always had his stock answer that they perform 2/3 new material and 1/3 old. It seems like that ratio has well and truly flipped around since the pandemic. Maybe even further back than that. In regards to Bad Mood Rising, i think they should at least give 'My Discomfort Is Radiant' an airing.

the bloat

It could also be that they're leaning harder on the old stuff because they're in shape to play it after recording five legged dog. Prob feels fresh to them again

Seems the previous setlist was fake. No song from HAT after all. Pretty much the exact same songs from the last tour.

Sacrifice
Oven
Lovely Butterfly
It's Shoved
Anaconda
Lizzy
Charlie
Euthanasia
Mister Dog Is Totally Right
Never Say You're Sorry
Evil New War God
A History Of Bad Men
Hooch
Honey Bucket
The Bit
With Teeth

This setlist was great. Way better than the setlist from the Ministry tour.   When you get the Lovely butterfly so early in the set, its always promising.

Third time they're playing my hometown and i'm missing it. Not the hat trick I was hoping for. First time I'm missing them in Indy since 2012 too.

Glad I caught em' on the Ministry tour.

I love when they open with Sacrifice. I love when they close with With Teeth, Mister Dog is a fucking monster.

This setlist was nothing to be sad about IMO.

i'm a little sad because it's a different tour but basically the same setlist as the last tour

It would be oh so Melvins for them to announce a tour in 2023 called 'The Great Big Rehashed Setlist Tour' and then play totally different songs!!

We're always a little sad about that.

A rehashed setlist of Melvins songs is still better than any other kind of setlist.

Setlist seems fine to me. See y'all at the Black Cat tomorrow !  :ohsnap:

also it appears that the venue in palm springs, the alibi, has shut down with no notice. haven't seen anything about that show being rescheduled for another spot out in the desert

It's canceled. They weren't really sure what the circumstances were that led to the cancellation, just that it's canceled and isn't being rescheduled or moved to another venue.
